    Boy, does that bring back memories. In college, my friends and I used to use a catch phrase, which was “Bar!” accompanied by raising a fist to your forehead. It was a college radio station thing (we were all DJs, University of Delaware) and I have no idea how it started. It was almost like “Aloha” — “Bar!” could mean hello, goodbye, I agree, let’s have sex, etc., etc. And we didn’t even drink. Imagine. Bar! to you, Jon.

    In Armory Square in Syracuse, NY, right in the “nice downtown bar district,” there was a bar called “Bar” with the word “BAR” painted above the awning in low budget glory. All of the underage SU students went there because they didn’t card.

    This beacon of hope, however, is definitely much classier.

    My dad has lamps just like that… one has a drunk frenchman clinging to it.. and the other has a british police man… -shrug- anyways.. I took the same picture, with my cellphone, on my trip home this last week… hehe…

    Holy crap, I have that lamp. I swiped it from the bar in my grandfather’s basement. The bulb is the top of a lamppost, against which a drunken Scotsman in a kilt is leaning. Can you believe my family was going to THROW THAT OUT?
