Selling Out, Now With More Sellouty Goodness Than Ever

One of the benefits from working at home, aside from ruining the internet and selling out, has been that Heather and I have been able to work on something that highlights our love for our dog as well as our love for photography; a calendar for 2006 featuring the Former Congressman.

Our second blurbodoocery production:

Former Congressman Chuckles: 2006 Calendar

We are using Lulu to print and ship this calendar, after seeing how nice JPG magazine looks. Lulu lets you opt to pay for many different levels of shipping, from super cheap to next day express. If we printed this ourselves and handled shipping, you’d most likely get this mid year and we’d probably screw your order up and there would be yelling and we’d start drinking more and then Heather would post more compromising photos of me and sure the Chuck photos would be nice, but half a year of useful calendaring would be shot to hell.

We aren’t selling our first blurbodoocery production for any amount.

If you are so inclined, order a calendar by clicking here.

    What a good idea! If I wasn’t such a cat person…

yay! now i can have chuck *ALL YEAR LONG,* not just on fridays! can’t wait for the third blurbodoocery production, which i’m praying is a book of either “posts we never posted” or your most favorite hate-mail ever. :) ::hugs::

whoring out the dog! i love it! seriously.
my mum wanted a golden retreiver calendar for the holidays. chuck counts as golden, yessir. the retreiving part i’m not so sure of.

hey you two: when by mid-january you’re all flush with cash and vintage porsches n shit, i hope to still be able to get my morning dose.

you’re a part of my morning. you *ARE* my hazelnut creamer.

  • Jenn

mmmm.…sweet, nourishing, sellouty goodness. How can I resist?

Bought one. It will go in my kid’s room, since he is a calendar nut and collects them. (Yes, we will have him checked out for this sort of behavior).

Though now that I think about it, maybe it’s not such a good idea to give him a calendar from a site I’d rather he not visit until he’s a tad older. dooce.com might be too educational for him. I know he knows all those words, but I’d rather he not use them. :-)

I’m going to start selling out my cats’ asses. Not for ad space; I would just sell tiny portions of my cats’ asses out, with a little deed of ownership for each bit, and a photo of the cat’s ass with a little arrow marking which part you own.

  • VTOL

Did you two use Deloitte? Actually this has a more Headstrong feel to it. Whichever consulting firm did your work for you deserves mention. Genius.

Looks cool. Sorry man, but i don’t think I’ll be getting one. I hate being reminded how far away Friday is.

  • http://k-marie.blogspot.com Karenna

And to think, I was almost suckered into ediblegreetings “made right here in Salt Lake City!”.

Chuck, I hope you like Nebraska, Texas and Michigan.

  • Stephanie

Have you thought about doing a calendar with some of your other photos–like the great shots of buildings and scenery from the cool places you guys have been? I love your photography and I would totally buy one if you offered it.

  • Laurie from Maryland

I have been reading your blogs for months now, and I think you guys are wonderful. The Chuck calendar is awesome! My daughter (6 yrs. old) and I love each week’s Chuck photo. Of course, Leta is a sweetie too. Glad that you are all at home and enjoying life. Rock on, my internet friends. And, stop with the “sell out” talk. Providing all of us with so much humor, wit, and excellent writing has so much value — why should you not support yourselves this way for God’s sake? Do what you love… and get paid for it!

OMG! If you only new what a Chuck fan I am. My kids think I am crazy because I am always laughing at the pictures you post of him. Besides being funny, he is a beautiful dog! I am putting the calendar on my Christmas wish list.

This is excellent. Well done you guys.

Is the quality of Lulu’s printing really good? I’ve been thinking of printing some stuff for my portfolio and am wondering if it is of good enough quality. Thanks.

  • BoatSailor

Cool calendar… Chuck is the muttiest of the mutts — and therefore a great rep of dogdom.

Now about your former bud Merkley.… I followed a link from here to there and have attemtped to keep up with some of his thoughts etc. But, it. is. a. STRUGGLE. He is very energetic, but on a vibe I’m not connecting with.… VERY NICE photos though. Are you guys in touch? What does he do, you know, for money?

What an absolutely wondeful idea! I for one am very glad you both sold out. There is something to be said for capitalism and calenders. And there is definately something to be said for working from home. The haters are the ones that are jealous that they didn’t sell out. Now where did I put my credit card?

Back in the mid 90’s I used to visit this site called “Kitty Porn” and it was pictures of kittens without clothes on. Occasionaly you would see a kitten that would have a small feather boa or something. It was a pretty funny site. Reminds me of Dogster and Catster but with a funnier spin on it. That would be cool to have a beefcake calender of Chuck next year. And I would get a free one for suggesting it, right? Okay, I’m all about the beefcake, the truth is out.

Your doggie is adorable! And this all inspired me to write something about my own lovable mutt.

  • karimel

Great idea! Chuck rocks! But where’s the sphinx or him baking in the hot August sun? Those two pix were so awesome!

  • Alan

gratuitous capitalism from a Utne-Reader reading leftie! I love it!

It was too easy. I am a cynical bastard.

Good luck with your venture…hell, I may even by one. Chuck is cool.

  • megin

yeah, enough of the “sell-out” self-flagellation or mock guilt or whatever. what i want to know is if you really actually sift the marshmallows out for leta?

  • Dr. to you

I want to know if Leta finishes all of her chocolate milk from Starbucks.

    Cute calender!

  • http://www.blurbomat.com blurb

    Megin, Leta sifts them.

    Dr., she does.

  • http://dragonlady474.blogspot.com dragonlady474

Personally, I like Chuck in the Reindeer antlers lol.

  • http://dragonlady474.blogspot.com dragonlady474

To the lady that complained to your wife about dressing up Chuck, I think that lady’s punishment should be being chained to a fire hydrant while 100 dogs piss on her. LOL Some people need to get a life.

  • Suse

Hooray for the sellout-y calendar. Is possible/worth your while at all to spend another night picking out landscape/cloud/ foliage pics? Your photos are so brilliant — even a slapped together dozen would no doubt be fantastic.

Dozens/hundreds would buy. Or at least me and Stephanie. Many fans have been hoping to support your websites through your love of photography. A scenescape collection would make a beautiful gift that one could give one’s relative, office mate, playgroup buddy, hard-to-buy-for person-on-list, whereas 12 pictures of Chuck, god love him, might appeal only to blurbdoocery fans. Not that there arent’ hundreds and not that we won’t buy — but if there were an option for a scenery calendar, I’d buy 2. I’m just sayin’.
