The Long Dark Springtime of the Soul

Yesterday I mowed for the first time this season and today we get this.

Bleah.

I am so sorry. I don’t mean to laugh, but that is hysterically funny! Truth Hubby mowed yesterday for the first time this season as well, but living in the South we can guarantee we will never see snow again. Only hail and tornadoes.

I truly feel your pain. Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor.

Hooray for nods to Douglas Adams books!

Ouch, that’s a kick in the crotch. Seriously though, that is sucktastic. It could be worse though. It could have just rained and forced you to mow again. At least this way you can expect not to mow again for about, oh, three weeks or so?

This definitely sucks. I was in a tee shirt and shorts two days ago. Yesterday I was up at Deer Valley and although there was snow on the ground it must have been in the 60s (spring skiing, anyone?).

Now it’s snowing. And sticking. And sucking.

I think I need one of those sun lamp visor thingajigs.

Jesus. It’s 93 and blindingly sunny here in Houston. Guess I’ll stop complaining about having to turn on the A/C.

At least you *have* a lawn. I’m still stuck on dirt and lumber… :) The roof is done though!

I agree. It sucks. Then again, maybe you’re on to something. If you freeze the lawn every time you mow it, maybe you won’t have to mow it so often.

Snow in April is just wrong.

    Suckity. I’d be bitter, too.

You have snow? Bastard. Come on down to TN and mow my lawn.

BAHAHAHA Next weekend will be my hubby’s first round on the tractor cutting the 4 acres….and I’ll be damned it better not snow…it has been known to snow in Alabama in April so don’t be wishing it on us……but that is a gorgeous picture!

Once again you get snow and we get damaging winds with a dust storm thrown in here and there.

    Oh and wildfires.

    That’s always a nice bonus.

Ugh. Good GAWD! Enough already with the snow, the rain and the grey weather. I hear you Jon, I’m sick of it too.

Good God in heaven. It snows there when you mow the grass. It rains here when you wash your car.

I will send weather-God prayers your way.

Mother Nature is simply going through the “change.” I can verify that some days you feel comfy, then hot, then cold. It takes time friends….

“April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
    Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring [snow].”–with apologies to T.S. Eliot

It will not stop raining in the Bay Area and it is driving me mad! Last time we had a sunny day I tried to mow and ended up almost having the lawn eat the mower! Not to mention my dog can’t go out and play without becoming a large mud ball!

What is this? Is it global warming? el nino? la nina? Tell me what I have to do to stop this crazy weather! Do I have to kill a puppy? I mean, I love puppies, but if it will stop this rain…

Today’s high in Austin was 101∞. It was still over 90 on my front porch at 9:00. That snow looks pretty good to me.

We went on a Bunny bikeride on Easter and were pelted with HAIL on the way home. Austin 101 degrees sounds real nice, I’m ready for some summer to find its way to Portland. It has been a very long winter indeed!

What imjeffp said. It was so hot in Austin yesterday that we had rolling blackouts.

And right now: baseball sized hail! Which seems both better and worse than snow, somehow.
