Lower Still

Awhile back, I questioned how low Bush numbers could go. Here’s a NYTimes chart from a recent survey done with CBS News. It’s low.

I also linked to the excellent Rolling Stone piece talking about historians reviewing the worst U.S. presidents in history and putting the current president in their company. It’s definitely worth a read.

What is going to happen in November elections? What is going to happen to Karl Rove?

I read that Rollings Stones piece last week. Very interesting. I also just started Foxes in the Henhouse, which is incredibly compelling.

    The poll speaks volumes.

The article says it all so, so well.

  • http://hillbillyplease.blogspot.com/ Jagosaurus

What’s going to happen? Not enough I’m afraid. There’s a distinct lack of coverage on and acknowledgement of the real, tangible crimes being committed.

Everyone should read the piece in Rolling Stone. It is extremely well-written and very, very sobering.

It is sobering. What will happen?

I think that voters in the red states want to be certain that ìeveryone elseísî lives are just like theirs. They want to do everything that they can to ensure that their neighbors are nice straight, white, Christian folk who have lots of babies or abstain from sex. If that means that we have a bunch of lying, cheating, money-grubbing, incompetent, uncaring sleazy bastards in the White HouseÖwell. I guess they think thatís better than a bunch of queer, non-white, immigrant, heathen/atheist, abortionist, hell-going, hell-raisers next door in their lovely, special communities.

    The Dems will lose again.

I’m sure George W. Bush is the worst president we have ever had, but it makes little difference. He wasn’t elected by the vote of the people (just witness Florida or the irregularities in Ohio). He is part of the secret elite who really rule the world.

  • southerngirl

No doubt about it. Dubya is the worst president in history. His adminstartion has done more to damage this country than any other president–both at home and abroad. And it all boils down to greed.

What will happen in the November elections? I believe the American people are even sicker of the current Congress than they are of Bush and there will be some big changes. The Democrats will pick up a majority in Senate and maybe even the House.

What will happen to Karl Rove? We should know soon. Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald reportedly is close to deciding whether to indict him for lying about the CIA leak. The indictment could happen this month.

Amos Musser called me last night and confirmed the Illuminati are involved…just I as suspected.

If you Bush polls numbers are bad, take a look at Ohio Governor Bob Taft’s numbers. They are like in the teens!

  • apuraja

First off, yes poll numbers are bad and yea I think it’s a good sign of the discontent of the American people primarily due to our obsession with oil/gas. The economy itself is at a great place, however the war in iraq and oil continue to defeat this president, however there are positives to be seen, especially in the job front and economy in general.

Secondly, the Rolling Stone article, I put as much stock in that as I would an article in the NRA Magazine that might proclaim bush as the best president. RS is long been known as a left leaning publication that is mainstream, not that the article doesn’t have some merit but really just because RS has an article about it, who cares, unless you wear liberal shades..

Though he may never speak of it publicly, don’t you know that Clinton just shakes his head in despair, when he thinks of all he built during his two terms? Just to watch it all being destroyed by this administration is heart-breaking for us all.

We all need to push as hard as we can to make a difference in this Fall’s elections. And I’m sure the Republicans will have some distractions in store for the public, but we must pull everyone together to win back Congress, at least.

Looks like the news just got even worse:

Remember that scene in Superman when the earth opens up and swallows Lois Lane/Margot Kidder whole while she’s in her car? Unfortunately, I doubt that’s what will happen to Karl Rove.

i read that same article in Rolling Stone the day it came in the mail. Great article. I certainly hope more people read it and take it seriously. it seems too many people out there are just sheep. They dont have any clue what is going on with this administration nor do they care.

Worst US President, fine. I’ll buy that.

But “Worst President Ever”? It seems like there have been some non-US presidents who have been very naughty, indeed… like that guy in Zimbabwe (sp?).

  • http://http:unorderdedthoughts.blogspot.com PhilipN

I’d like to echo what MelanieinOrygun said. In my morning paper in London there a piece about George W talking to his brother Jeb about him running for President. And I always thought the Kennedy’s were the only heireditory policical family in the US. The Bushes outstrip them. Could one of Dubya’s daughters be the first female President and not Hillary?

Please check out U Tube – the only video I can find of Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Man, was it good. He bravely called-out the president and the media. The intro to the clip on UTube is done with sarcasm, so do not be scared away by the weird guy giving doing the moderating. It is worth sitting through his presentation before getting to the tape of Colbert.

I just listened to a public radio segment about Iraq, and it sounds like everyone in the world except the Bush administration thinks the president should respond to this letter from the Iranian prime minister in some way. But hey, why take steps to avert a nuclear crisis when we can rest on our high horse?

When I’m feeling ultra-paranoid I sometimes imagine there are people in the White House who just want the Rapture to get here already and that is the driving force behind their foreign policy.

“When I’m feeling ultra-paranoid I sometimes imagine there are people in the White House who just want the Rapture to get here already and that is the driving force behind their foreign policy.”

I have said this…what good is prophecy if not for avoidance? However, zealots need prophecy to prove a righteous dogmatic belief. So, it is written, so, it is done. Instead of “whew, that was a close one” its like, “see, we tooold you what was gonna happen” right after they took the steps to manipulate situations to bring it about.
I know, I know, weird right? I am a logical person, still.

In my liberal fantasy world, this is what will happen in November. The American voting public will participate in their civic duty, no, civic right, and vote a Democratic majority into Congress. Not soon after appeals for accountability will be heard ringing from the rafters. An independent counsel will be appointed and impeachment hearings will follow shortly thereafter.

  • http://www.patatomic.com patatomic

You have to think that Bush is doing everything that he can (align to the center) to make sure that the Republicans still maintain a majority of the House come mid-term election time (realigning the cabinet/staff and such). Otherwise, it could be a very interesting final two years of his presidency (ie. impeachment for something…take your pick).

Hopefully the Dems will have the balls to find a Kenneth Starr equivalent to get it done. Or, would they be wise to lay off impeachment in an effort to reach out to the middle and get swing votes. I’ve heard it many times over that Gavin Newsome did more to get Bush reelected than Bush himself as legalizing same-sex marriage threw conservative right-wingers into action and won the middle by stacking ballots with same-sex marriage initiatives.

Watching Bush go down would sure be sweet though. It may even atone for the first 6 or 7 years of the pain that I’ve felt thanks to his policy.

Jon, someone is using my name and web addy and posting on the blogs on my blogroll. They are filthy comments, please don’t think it is me, I’m not a troll.

Another poll from yesterday places Emperor Bush at 29% (http://tinyurl.com/od73b). With USA Today’s revelations on the NSA’s 10 million plus database on American’s, I would love to see next week’s poll. Could the Emperor sink lower than Darth Cheney?

    What will happen in ’06?

They will Diebold the election – the pundits will agree that the exit data pollsters “got it wrong again” – and folks will yawn, stretch, and reach for another Bud Lite.

If you don’t believe me, just think – given all the illegal stuff they’ve done, what’s stealing another election? And the stakes are too high for them to lose – it would be suicidal for them to allow the House and Senate to change.

So, get your passport fired up. I, for one, will be moving to NY shortly after the election. Gotta get outta Texas!
