Lower Still

Awhile back, I questioned how low Bush numbers could go. Here’s a NYTimes chart from a recent survey done with CBS News. It’s low.

I also linked to the excellent Rolling Stone piece talking about historians reviewing the worst U.S. presidents in history and putting the current president in their company. It’s definitely worth a read.

What is going to happen in November elections? What is going to happen to Karl Rove?

He’s aligning with the center????? The center of where?

You can only move to the center after you’ve shored up your base. And right now he’s losing his base. 90% of Democrats, 80% of Independents, and 33% of Republicans don’t like him. 48% of Conservatives don’t like him.

If he continues with this “alignment”, then truly no one is going to like him. He could improve his numbers if he actually governed as the Conservative he was supposed to be. Not that that would improve his image amongst this crowd.

I didn’t read the links. It depresses me. Or is it horrifies? when anything is mentioned in the context of bush, congress, politicians…I say, why not vote for Kinky Friedman to be president. At least he won’t kiss your ass and glib talk you to death. At least maybe not for the first 100 days.

Today was a good day for quote finds:

The word ‘politics’ is derived from the word ‘poly’, meaning ‘many’, and the word ‘ticks’, meaning ‘blood sucking parasites’.
    — Larry Hardiman

The only difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats allow the poor to be corrupt, too.
    — Oscar Levant (1906 — 1972)

Thank you! That was a highly interesting read. The juxtaposition between Bush and previous presidents illuminated many strong comparisons that many people fail to fully recognize today. I don’t know how the midterm elections will go in November, but I hope that there is great change.

Karl Rove? We’re going to stick an apple in his mouth, roast him over an open fire, drink mai tais into the night, and dance around in a ritualistic pleasure bath of bacchanallian glee.

    Pass the poi…
