Interview: Accidental Tech Entrepreneurs Turn Their Hobbies Into Livelihoods

Interview featuring dooce, digg, Six Apart, de.licio.us and Zoot

Finally a dooce interview that isn’t centered around Heather losing her job. The piece is a nice refresher about the other interviewees as well.

From the supportive (I’m trying) spouse side of things, this experience has been exciting and crazy and awesome. That I’m writing this from a porch in the middle of nowhere, without worrying about hurrying back to the office, is testament to the awesomeness. Now if only Leta would fall asleep instead of singing.

What a wonderful article. Love the picture of y’all. And just think, Heather will be forever thought of whenever anyone gets fired for blogging…nice, huh? ;)

yeah, good article… i read it yesterday. Obviously it gets tiring for you guys to keep hearing abou the whole “dooce got fired for blogging, etc…” I’m glad that you two have made it to a place where most tech savvy people would kill to be in.

Congrats on the article. You guys really are an internet sucess story and its about time someone paid attention to that, instead of just lumping Heather in as a “mommy blogger” or “that chick that got fired.” I’m a big fan of Kevin Rose and the Trotts as well, so it was great to see you all represented on the same page. Heather must be very quotable (country drawl and all), because she is the most quoted person in the article. Give yourselves a congratulatory hug.

I admire you both – to make working for a living really more about living. It’s something we (husband and I) are working towards and knowing that you two have succeeded helps our efforts.

A great story about a great family.

“Dooce gets 45,000 to 65,000 unique visitors on weekdays, about half that on weekend days.”

Ha. Dooce readers are slackers pretending to work and getting paid to read about the Armstrong adventures! And the eventual dooce inspired take over of the corporate world continues…
