The charges weren’t for local (bluetooth) transfers, but for uploading photos and information to a company website (in the US) from Japan and outside our “network” in the US. The data transfer link then took it upon itself to stay open and continue uploading data over a period of days for over a month. Both our phones are EDGE enabled to make data transfer quicker, but hubby’s phone didn’t know when to quit, so to speak.

mediaguy: I’m so sorry, I totally forget how bassackwards US phone companies are sometimes. It’s exactly why it took me sooo long to find a phone I wanted, not a phone I had to take, i.e. a free clamshell in silver or black.

No matter what form-factor you prefer, I do think Nokia, Sony Ericcson and Samsung make the best phones overall. Unfortunately, their best designs aren’t usually available in the US because cell providers here think Americans just want cheap (or free) phones with no ‘extras’.
