Salt Lake Tribune — Single word change in Book of Mormon speaks volumes

The church owned TV station had a big story on the evening news about this change. This single word is a big one in terms of differentiating dogma. My entire life in the church I had been taught that the people of the Book of Mormon were the ancestors of native Americans. This single word change mixes that notion up substantially.

Apologists, start your spinning in 3… 2…

    Blurb? You are a kickass human being. I love how you respond to people.

    As to the issue at hand — I went to a private Mormon high school and lived in Salt Lake City as half of a lesbian couple for a year in 2001 or so. I found that the Mormons were very self-segregating and bothered the nice lesbian couple not at all, which was touching.

    The truth of the religion? Well, the tablets and all that require a true stretch of faith but then again, all religions do. And that is pretty much all the nothing I have to say for today.

    It appears that I have been mistaken. My apologies.

    (How’s THAT for condescending? :)

    I realize that my query will likely not be responded to, but here goes anyway.

    @PTC
    “This along with the announcement earlier in the year about what is and what isn’t doctrine have helped answer questions I’ve had about the church for years.”

    What statement? As a practicing Mormon, I’m curious what you’re referring to.

    Anyone else know?
