Maybe Not Such a Good Idea

The best so far of the soapbox videos. After the 4 minute mark it gets crazy. I’m trying to figure out just how many cameras are in use and how much footage dude has to sort through. If I’ve linked to this before, it’s still worth another look.

AWESOME.

wow…I don’t know know what is more stunning, that these are adult men, the music is from the movie 9 to 5, I think there were scenes from flashdance mixed in, and some of the men had to tell their wives that this sunday they wouldn’t be home so they could race in an illegal soapbox derby. WOW!

Not to be that person…but have these guys never heard of ROLL CAGES???

    Sheesh. Now I’m my mother.

Long ago, before kids and a mortgage, I would have totally been into this.

Cool video. I think someone watches a whole lot of Nascar and decided to use the bumper cams to their advantage.

I wonder if this is actually illegal? I mean, basically they are riding the legal equivalent of bicycles, which means the only illegal part isn’t the soapboxes themselves but the fact that they run stop signs, drive on the wrong side of the road, and generally are reckless.

It makes is so much more fun when you call something Illegal.

Anyway, as an official gearhead for life, I have to love these folks and their crazy machines. I live not too far from these wingnuts so I might have to go and check them out next time they have a gravity race. I might even decide to join them; I have enough spare parts around the yard to assemble a death-defying, balls-out downhill killing machine…

Thanks for posting this and spreading the word to more irresponsible males in need of yet another stupid hobby. By the way, you can also see an extensive coverage of this silliness in the current issue of Hot Rod Magazine, available now at your local newsstand.
