Oil Thing

Taken out in the desert near Duchesne, Utah. Since the price of oil has risen so much over the past couple of years, the drills and pumps are still operating. It’s kind of weird to see these lonely machines slowly pulling oil out of the earth out in the middle of nowhere.

I love the dirty texture the oil residue adds.

Go see There Will Be Blood if you haven’t yet. Oil!

Wow, pretty cool – the lighting in the shot is perfect btw. I would never have guessed what it was if you hadn’t explained it.

If only I was half as blessed with your photographic skills…. :)

There’s poetry in ancient artifacts of industry. Love this capture. Some of my favorite photographic moments have come from exploring forgotten urban architecture. It’s hard to imagine that any of it was ever new.

Nice pic, especially after seeing There Will Be Blood – highly recommended film by the way!

I love how it’s gritty and has a sheen at the same time.

This is such a beautiful shot. The colors of the red and the rust set against the blue of the sky practically have taste and the composition is perfect.

I’m telling you so you could make a killing selling prints. Amazing stuff.

I love this shot. I agree with aimee and aaryn, who both said it best. Oh and Shauna, you should sell it.
