I love this picture! I’m fascinated by anything architectural. Keep the prints coming!

That would be disappointing to a balloon, I think — to go that far, and be prevented from realizing your true potential by an uncaring ceiling, albeit an ornately decorated one.

It’s the way I imagine a sunbeam would feel to travel the 90+ million miles to earth, only to be stopped inches short of its goal by say, an outstrecthed hand, or a promotional flyer. And if that promotional flyer was for a tanning booth, and featured a picture of the sun? Well, that’s irony.

Grand Central truly is grand, isn’t it? Standing in the center of it, with the bustle of people all around you, and the amazing architecture…how fabulous!

I do feel very sorry for the balloon.

Jon, what do you do to get the pseudo-grain? I’m also curious about the darkened-edge, retro-lens-y look, do you get that in-camera, or in post-production?

Great shot. I’m heading to Vancouver in August and from what I’ve heard, it’s just unreal. I can’t wait to take some shots. Have a great trip!

    FYI, Internet!

There’s a really interesting article appearing in the New York Times Magazine this weekend about blogging. They’ve already posted it online at: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/25/magazine/25internet-t.html?_r=1&amp;hp&amp;oref=slogin

I think you have to do a free sign-up thing if you aren’t already a reader.

I don’t think the balloon is trying to escape. It just wants to make love to the beautiful ceiling! Mmmm… delicious ceiling.

Still voting for more info. on the printer/inks before buying! Thanks! : )

BTW, I love the pseudo-grain feel as well. I work 100% digitally (apart from shooting with a Holga for giggles now and then) and miss the grain at times.

Completely unrelated except for the Vancouver bit.

My buddy Buzz Bishop is a *huge* radio/media celebrity in Vancouver.

He has been trying to reach you guys to do an interview. I gave him your email address and he used Heather‘s contact page.

If you guys could fit in a 4 minute spot, it would be awesome.
