I love the crazy bark on these trees. Like somebody came along and did some weaving. Giant weaving.
Plus, non-fake lens flare.

Um. That’s not bark. That’s where the old fronds were cut or fell from the palm tree.
But it’s a very cool picture.

REAL lens flare? I’ve lost all trust in you! Beautiful pic. As someone who just got back from a beach trip, i feel your pain. Whattya mean i can’t drink beer at 11am?

Pagalina — who says you can’t?
Where’s my bottle opener?
V. cool photo, by the way. And as someone who doesn’t tweak digitally (not because I have anything against it, just because I have no idea what I’m doing), I’m always surprised when someone clarifies that a lens flare is real.
From my perspective (and I can confidently say that most photo-non-pros agree with me) if there’s a lens flare, and it looks cool, then it ends there. Cool pic, no dissection of the process.
I completely understand that your audience on the whole is different, though, and that you want to be above board (as well as toss back some moxie to those flame throwers out there)… just wanted to toss in my two bits, though.

Ah — I can feel the sun…(as I sit in the cube farm I call my office).
I need a mental health day to veg out on my deck ALL DAY LONG.
Great photos — and commentary — keep posting!

Great photo Jon! Quick question and off topic but not off topic. It seems like you always have your camera with you. Looking at Heather’s photo of you eating sushi, it made me wondering what kind of camera bag are you using OR is Heather just keeping it in her purse? LOL
