Remember the Summer

I know that I was supposed to hold onto this image until it got really bad. It hasn’t snowed enough to stick yet, so technically, I’m way ahead of the game, here.

This was taken in Destin, Florida back in June, 2008. All the way back then. Wow, I miss it.

I like that. I like that a lot.

Hey there. Just registered SOLELY so I could leave you this comment – my words of advice are, next year, take your vacation later in the summer. This is a trick I have learned – and I live in North Carolina, and can go to the beach theoretically whenever, but still I miss it come February. If you take the vacation in August or September, it’ll help you last through the nasty winter months. Just a suggestion!

And the photos from that trip = BEAUTIFUL!

Let me know if you need beach suggestions. I am the East Coast Beach Queen!

    Hey Jon ,
We too are annual Destiners. We go after the second week of August and save ton’s of cash. Schools start there in early August so the the crowds are not as bad either.

It is a bit hotter though.

Jon, how come my beach shots look like such crap next to yours?

I needed this today, the latest in a string of days on which our wonderful cherubs woke us up in the 4 o’clock hour. (The 3-year-old was singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at the top of her lungs.)

Wife and I are headed to Key West in six days for our first vacation alone since our honeymoon … 10 years ago. Oy vey.

Thanks for the excitement-inducing preview, dude.

God, I do love Destin. Golden sunshine, soft white sand, turquoise water, fresh seafood. Heaven on earth.

    Beautiful photo, Jon.

Mmm, I love the rich blues and greens, and the way the clouds and surf sort of mirror each other.

This photo alone makes me re-think my Florida boycott. I’ve only been to awfully tacky places like Orlando and Daytona Beach, but Destin seems like a whole other world.

This photograph is absolutely stunning on so many levels. Thanks for sharing.

This picture makes me want to cry! We may have snow tommorrow. I met your wife in Destin in june. It was very exciting,we both squealed. My husband says I lead a very boring life!! I really am not a stalker.Hmmm I wonder if she remembers. Was it Pompano Joe’s?

    Hi Jon,
I met you and Heather at the Hallmark presentation. You were both very nice. I love this photograph, it almost looks like a painting.

Mmmm. A great sea of green jello.

This image is awesome. I love the 3D aspect to the water and your color tweakage as the perfect amount of surreal flair.

    Delish.

  • Lesley

The colouring is stunning and the water looks pure enough to drink.

Nice photo, jon. reminds me of my backyard (hawaii) and i never ever tire of the ocean. wait, that’s hideous that i’m bragging about my 80 degree weather right now while you’re probably winterizing your windows. don’t worry, i got nostalgic when you posted the autumn colors.

  • kaingo

i feel like a fish out of water. get me back in there.

  • siddalee7

LOVE THIS SHOT!! Is it me or do some of those clouds look a bit phallic?

  • http://www.digitalcatharis.com themightyjimbo

is this modified or is the water that green?

ps: gorgeous shot. makes me want to go to the beach and i live on the beach!

@themightyjimbo, I amped the colors, but the water is that color. It’s not like the ocean on the Pacific coast. Destin beaches smoke ANY beach in California. Sorry, but that’s the sad truth.

Super touristy, but damn fun and relaxing.
