Furry Red Plant

One of the great things about California in winter: It’s still green. The trees in Utah are another month or so from exploding and the stark branches contribute to the downer vibe of late winter. So the vacation recharged the color palette as well. To wit (see above).

Watch what you wish for… Vancouver is mostly green year round, at least in the mountains surrounding it. It gets to be pretty dreary after a while — looking at nothing but green everytime you look up. It all feels so wet and mossy. What I’d give for big explosions of color and more discernible seasons.

    I’m just sayin’…

At least you HAVE green and white and other colors. Here in the middle of freaking Nowhere, Arizona we have brown, and brown… oh, and look – MORE BROWN. What I wouldn’t give for ANYTHING other than brown.

I’m with eacastillo – nothing but brown for miles around. A little dusting of snow on the hills they call mountains out here (big bumps in the ground with no trees). Other than than brown. And grey. Althought, we do have partly sunny skies today. knock wood.

Not sure which I’m more entranced by, the beautifully lit background or the foreground. Altogether, a stunning portrait.

I think it looks like kangaroo paw too. The ones in my garden are not flowering at the moment, partly the heat and drought, partly wrong time of year!
