That’s what my MacBook Pro (from June 2007) did a time or two before the video totally fried, due to a known issue:

If your video goes out, and if that’s a MacBook Pro in the range, be sure to take it to an Apple store. Free fix, even out of warranty, due to Nvidia’s problems.
