It Sucked and Then I Cried: Launch Day and a Touch of the Schmoop

it sucked and then I cried

In the winter of 2002 and again in 2003, I saw today. I saw that Heather would, if she chose, be a published author. In 2004, she really hit her stride and her talent has blossomed. She works very hard to publish good things and make people smile every day. Four years ago in 2005, before I quit the day job, Heather started working on a manuscript outline to shop to publishers. All of that is in the past now and I’m thrilled at the job that Simon Spotlight has done to get this book out there.

Today, I’m bursting with pride and love for her as It Sucked and Then I Cried hits the streets. We’ve been through a lot since the process started, but we’re alive, together and happy (but tired).

Heather, you are the most talented person I’ve ever known. Matched with your astounding work ethic, you deserve every bit of praise and success. I’m flattered that you chose me to make this journey. I’m flattered to know you and I hope that this success continues for all the hard work and personal sacrifices you have endured to make it happen.

Take care of yourself on the road, baby!

To you, dear readers, thank you for your support. I thank you every day and today is no exception. Your support of Heather and our business endeavors over the years has been nothing short of astounding. You helped make this happen.

Lovely post, Jon. I am very bummed that I will miss the book tour here in Denver, have to go to SC for an unexpected photo shoot. But I wish Heather (and you) the best.

Just wanted to let you know that I got my copy in record time from Amazon. High fives all around, from the very beginnings all the way to fulfillment. I can’t wait to read it. You have a brilliant family. Thanks (both of you) for sharing it with the world. We appreciate it :)

    Jon,

I was lucky enough to make it to Oak Brook last night for Heather’s signing. They said there was about 275 people who came through! I was THE very last of those 275 people. I feel so lucky to have gotten to meet her & get a pic together!

I’ve read both of your blogs since Jan of 2004. I’m inspired every day by you both. Thank you for sharing your lives with so many people.

Last week, I absolutely hated where I was and what I couldn’t do. On a training mission for work, I was in the Windy City for three days, and had to leave on Thursday. Although a canceled flight on a last leg from Denver to Salt Lake City _could_have_ kept me in Chicago one more night, alas it wasn’t meant to be. Would have been cool to see Heather outside her comfort zone if only for a moment. Will just have to settle for here. Good luck to both of you!

I was damn lucky to be in Chicago on Thursday as well — she did such an amazing job! I did get concerned though, while I was waiting for an hour before she arrived, I realized I was wearing CLOGS. I was sure she would refuse to sign my book, but instead was very nice and informed me that Birkenstock clogs were more acceptable than other versions :D Crisis averted! Book signed! Amazing evening.

Nice post. I totally agree. Heather is really funny. And she also inspired me to start my blog in August of 08. By the way, I follow you on twitter and I think you’re funny too. A match made in heaven. Gonna go see her in SF on Wed and write a blog on it. I hope you are giving her lots of foot massages it helps with the pregnancy. And you will score huge! points.

Just got back from Mountain View. Now that I’ve got my book signed, I can start reading. Heather looks like a movie star.
