A Return to Print

No, I didn’t get a job art directing a print mag. I am sharing my first MagCloud effort, Phoney.01. It’s a collection of recent shots taken and edited on my iPhone. I’ve shared a bunch of them on flickr like this one:

On the way home from a procedure

I’ve been blown away by the software that’s available for the iPhone camera. Which is also why I’m excited about the iPad. If there’s a way to edit photos in a touch interface, I’ll be in heaven. I’ll do a separate post about the apps I used and my process. I generally don’t use just one app. I use a few to get an image where I want.

Inside Phoney are just images. No text, no nothing. Just images. There are a few technical reasons for this, but I hope that it puts the images first and the idea that I did them with a phone secondary. I want people to enjoy the images as images; evoking a certain emotion or memory taking the viewer somewhere else, if only for a moment, regardless of the technology used to produce them.

I’m charging $12 for a 32 page magazine of images. You can preview the issue here:

Even if you don’t purchase an issue, I’d love your input for Phoney.02!!

    Jon,

Will you be commenting or have you seen “The Best Camera”? I like the social networking aspect of this app/ecosystem.

I use Best Camera, but always in conjunction with something else. i don’t use the social networking stuff with Best Camera because I like flickr. But that’s me. Best Camera is awesome.
