Haha, I love your captions & commentary.

      Thanks!

I learned that there are reasons for film crews. Doing video production, DP, sound, capture & transcode, editing, VFX and output is brutal!

Hopefully the next one will be more pro.

I LOVED it. I thought it was very well done, Jon. It was hysterical, yet informative. And I love the casual way you guys approach your work and life. Your personalities and charm shine through everything you guys do.

      Thanks!

Hopefully most of the technical issues will go away as we get better at these!

“Hopefully the next one will be more pro.”

Oh pshaw, Jon, this is fine! It’s all a learning experience, just like dealing with Verizon as a sponsor and building out your office. It was laugh out loud funny (especially where Heather thought she had a microphone on her). I’m pretty sure Tyrant! couldn’t pull this off if he tried, but maybe that’s because he’s too busy thinking of new signs to post in the office such as “HEATHER THIS IS A FAMILY SHOW!”

I thought it was great. Really funny. I love Heather dancing. Any MM on that take?

Thanks! No Maker’s. Stone cold sober.

Great job! It was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the progress. In particular, I’m hoping you do end up getting a chance to talk about the more tech-related side of things, from network setup to tips for workspace layout and cable control. I’ll be moving and setting up my first dedicated home office area soon, so any tips you two can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Best of luck!

I saw your tweet re: Final Cut and wondered if a video was in the works! Nice job!

Final Cut is a scary beast at times but really isn’t hard once you know the language… feel free to drop me an email with questions, my day job is video producer / editor for a Large Medical Institution and I’m always happy to help. :-)

I can’t wait until you guys show how you did the wiring. I will be riveted, too bad Heather won’t be…I can see her glazed over look now. :)

    I’m thinking Cat 6?

That was hysterical. Good job to both of you.

Yep. Red Rock Micro Eye Spy Deluxe:

And an added handgrip accessory (I have no idea why they don’t include two with this bundle):

Bought from Pictureline here in SLC.

I also have a couple of LitePanel Micro units attached to the rig as well as a Marshal HDMI LCD screen. The follow focus and screen make a HUGE difference. We got the screen so we could easily review takes on the spot, as Heather wants to see a good take played back.

Still ironing out the best way to work, but so far, I’m pretty pleased. We’ll be working on lighting the space better in the coming videos. I think we’ll do some night shooting for b-roll as well and that should make the video look a lot better. I bought a Marantz digital recorder for audio, that should solve our audio woes from the last shoot.

Hi. Sorry for the word salad/nerd vomit. I’ve been DYING to talk to somebody about this. We spent a bunch of money, but the Red Rock Micro is the most flexible and inexpensive of all the DSLR rigs. I’ve been pretty impressed with it so far. And no, they aren’t paying me to say this.

NOTE: If you work for Red Rock and want a plug and are willing to throw some more gear our way, we’d love to talk. :-)
