Your affirmations are getting better and better. :)

I just wanted to tell you that I love your affirmations.  They make me feel like things are do-able.  Whatever the things may be.  Thanks.

Did you go somewhere? Looks too flat to be SLC. If not, I highly recommend you do when you get a chance. A friend did a solo trip from Portland across the northern states, stopping in Glacier, and taking cool pictures of the very flat N. Dakota to Chicago and then went back along I-80 last year as part of his healing.  Think of all of the photos you could get!

This is from November, 2011. I think it’s either right before takeoff or right after landing at JFK.

But I have thought about a trip or two. Especially for the photos. Healing optional.

         Oh, that’s why it’s tagged 2011. I was about to ask…

I really enjoy reading you, though this is the first time I say it. Other people express it so much better than I do it that I let them saying it.

I suggest some place out in nature. I find it wonderfully therapeutic to be removed from the pressures and bullshit of every day life. It puts so much in perspective and is so mind clearing.

     Happy trails, sir!

  • Krista

Beautiful.  Everywhere I turn there’s mountains.  Be a nice change to be able to see for miles and miles.

And where I grew up, on the coastal plains of Texas, I used to look at the clouds way far away on the horizon and imagine they were mountains…

This photo is just flat out gorgeous. I’m totally in if you decide to start selling prints again.

Are you going to SXSW after Dad 2.0 Summit?

  • bambooska

We are really enjoying this new kind of ride you’re taking us. Really.

I don’t know that there needs to be a long answer.  Short will do.

I think you are due for a trip to Morocco.

I’m so sorry that you’ve had to set out on this journey.  But I’m grateful that you’ve decided to take us along for the ride.

Yes, the fact that you are in such obvious, undeserved pain sucks, big time.

But the perfect storm of craptitude seems to have also been a catalyst for peeling away some of the shinier, seemingly-impermeable surface layers.  On a “human-to-human” level, I truly appreciate the glimpses of “vulnerable Jon” that you’ve shared lately (as well as the moments of “hopeful Jon”, “wise, strong Jon”, and “wry Jon”).  It’s also been interesting to see the affect that amalgamation of characteristics has had on your current work (and yes, I know I’ve posted this under a photo taken in 2011; timing has never been my strong suit!)

In particular, your writing has really taken me by surprise; it’s been resonating with me a lot, and bringing me back here to visit often … not because of undue prurient interest in your “situation”, but because I simply like to read what you have to say, and how you say it.  (And, okay, because I’ve become invested in hoping that your state of “new normal” becomes a wonderful place to be.)  At any rate, I hope you decide to post longer entries more often.  You’re quite the talented writer in your own right, Mr. Armstrong!

Go forth and conquer new kingdoms, Renaissance Guy!  But please keep the fires burning here while you do.  And please know that another stranger is sending many positive thoughts — and wishes for your future to hold abundant love, peace, light, beauty, and laughter — from the East Coast to your corner of the world.

Whoah, was this taken at the same time as Heather’s ‘To The West’ photo?  Probably not but the similarities are so striking.  Both beautiful.  I’ve only ever manged to get one series of sunset photos that I was happy with and they’re still not as nice as this.

I keep meaning to say that your photography has been a real inspiration to me lately.  It’s helped to recharge my flagging inspiration recently and I’m also grateful for the links to Filterstorm and Instagram.  Both have made me pretty happy lately.

Not mentioning anyone specific…but my non-existent, I never use it Twitter account is on fire with a certain person fighting with the entire Internet again Jon. Um, please, please pass on perhaps this is not the time to do such things…maybe? Worrying again!

    I think there’s a hidden message (or response…?) here. And I think it’s a good thing.

    • Kristen Romano

Stephanie — do you mean my response/message?

      • http://twitter.com/itsunusual Stephanie

No, I was talking about the picture and its similarity to one Heather posted recently, and she mentioned it being a metaphor. As does Jon. I think something good happened. But I’m not prying.

We have a great place in the Florida Keys, come stay with us! You can get some great shots in Key West!

    Jon,
This is the name of a GREAT song by Pat Metheny. Wishing you all the best. Even though it is a cliche, it does get better.
