Reflectioneering

Spent a lovely weekend with Leta. She’s turning into a great traveller. We were headed north to see my sister and her family near Bear Lake and the shortest route (through a canyon) was closed. We did not find this out until we arrived the canyon and saw the patrol car with cones stopping traffic. We ended up taking a nearly two hour detour through some of the worst blowing and drifting snow that I’ve driven. But we made it.

Daily affirmation: Stay with it. TL;DR: The results are always worth it. Even if you later decide to not stay with it, staying with it for whatever time will have taught a thing or twenty of inestimable value.

Blowing snow is just awful to drive through! I’m glad she’s turning into an awesome traveler and really glad that you both made it through safely!

    Kids
learn perseverance from their parents and even in bad driving conditions; they
learn to be drivers that are more careful when they get their license.

    Chalk
one up for the home team today!

Glad you had a nice weekend with your girl. One on one dad/daughter time is priceless. My husband takes each of my girls out for single dad time quite often. Now with the oldest being 10, they really “hang”…ya know, talking and being way too eerily similiar with each other, lol.

The blowing snow thing made me cringe. I drove one evening 20 years ago in blinding snow over a road I knew had dropoffs around every curve and major hills. My hangs were numb by the time I got home and I was in tears. Hope Leta wasn’t too worried…my girls hate bad weather while driving.

I envy all that snow.  We’ve only had dustings this winter.

    I’m digging the affirmations, too!

That’s a fantastic daily affirmation.  Absolutely fantastic.  Each and everyone of us needs to take this one home with us.

I like today’s affirmation best, so far. I’m enjoying your posts very much. Thank you for writing.

Blowing snow is a bitch.  It seems like you get into what I call a Star Wars mode where you feel like you’re driving at warp speed into the galaxy.  Especially when you are in that middle of nonsense place on 1–84 right before the Idaho border and until you get up to where 86 and 84 merge.  Yuck.

Glad you made it safely to Bear Lake with Leta.  I hope you had a great time together!

Best Affirmation EVER!  I had blowy snow on Saturday night, trying to go 5 minutes away.  Scary scary, After driving 20 minutes, and ALMOST making it to my destination, I decided it was smarter to come home.  Glad you guys made it through.

Adding my affirmation that your daily affirmations are interesting and I hope you continue to do them. Thanks for the “moments of Zen” :)

Also, wanted to add a comment regarding the “Illuminating” post (comments closed). I just got back from a CA — Vegas — Grand Canyon road trip (I’m from MA) and now I totally get why you take many pictures of the sky. My first few days it was just “the big sky” and then sometime on the third day I started to notice how fast it changes. Subtle and not so subtle changes. I started taking random shots with my iPhone too and came out with some interesting stuff.

Digital is so fun for experimenting — you know that adage that it takes a roll of film to find the one shot you’re looking for (or didn’t even know you were looking for) … now with  we can do that all we want and not worry about wasting film. Feels like a luxury.

Sounds like some great quality time.  One of the few perks of separation.
