24: Iron Fist & Wonder Woman

On this week’s show we talk about Iron Fist (IMDb):

The hosts talk about the Marvel Universe and The Defenders, including the announcement at New York ComicCon that Sigourney Weaver is joining the cast as “a villion”. Moltz mentinos an IGN post about the possibilities of who she might be playing.

Next we take a look at Wonder Woman (IMDb):

Moltz mentions the early Wonder Woman comics had a lot of people being tied up and the possible bondage overtones.

Armstrong brings up music themes in movies and their power, including the use of drone/horn blast sound in trailers (and that Armstrong simulated in the creation of the theme of this show) created initially by Hans Zimmer for Inception. Both hosts agree that the Wonder Woman theme is fantastic. It is also composed by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, who is a proponent of the overpowering sonic wall in movie soundtracks, cf: loudness wars. You can hear the modern Wonder Woman theme as listed on the Batman v Superman soundtrack: “Is She With You?” (iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify).

Armstrong brings up J.J. Abrams director’s commentary on Force Awakens wnere he mentions Ava DuVernay’s notes on the final fight scene and how Abrams used DuVernay’s notes to make it better.
