Dog Living

April 18th, 2002

What? You kidding me? We got ourselves a family right here!

Avid Blurbomat reader, you will note that me and the fiance have a dog.

The Blurbomat™ compendium of 5 days of being an adult and owning a dog:

  • Human sleep is optional. Dog sleep is constant.
  • He bites everything and everybody.
  • He may be bipolar.
  • He’s probably going to be 100 pounds or more. I’m in utter denial about this fact.
  • He’s a smart little shit. He already knows that when I tell him to zip it and he’s in the crate, it’s time to zip it. Especially at 3:24 a.m.
  • Dog people are not insane. They are in love.

He’s just too cute…and he’s got you wrapped around his little paw already, I’m sure!
I miss having a dog so much…but that will have to wait until we get a house…for now, I’m a cat person!

  2. Nice snap and a cute pet!

  3. Sarah B. says:

Every comment I begin to make just ends up with “awww, puppy wuppy.” And he’s just on the screen!

  4. paula says:

    Um…uh…

  5. kath says:

  7. Jeanette says:

What a great photo! You should be a photographer!

  8. Tess says:

I saw that precious, little thing on dooce and my monitor is all blurry from rubbing my nose next to the picture just trying to get a whiff of that puppy breath. Is there anything better than puppy breath? Why can’t they make virtual scratch and sniff websites? Hey, I’m on to something…

  9. porkchop says:

Once again, I think I’m going to be sick. No, this time I really know that I’m going to be sick………

  10. mysto says:

O.K, totally unrelated to the adorable doggie…but what’s going on with DOOCE???
    Huh? Should we concerned?

  11. dayna says:

ack…..i’m so sorry to hear that dooce is retiring the infamous website. i hope all’s well & best wishes for you all & chuckles…..!

  12. Tara says:

Damn…I wanted to post my concern/sorrow/etc here too, but did not know if it would be appropriate…but seeing as I am not the first, I will. ;-)

I obviously do not know the reasons why Heather stopped her website, but I can only imagine and totally understand. I would also like to extend my best wishes to you, her, Chuckles, and any little Armstrongs that will be running around (maybe?) someday…

Now, you can’t go off and stop your site too! It is bad enough that there is no more Dooce! It would be too much to handle! ;-)

Dooce i am so sorry that something that was supposed to be fun ended up like that. It really helped me laugh everyday while trying to overcome this darn panic disorder lol. i loved your sight and I wish you, your fiance and the cutest dog the best of luck. You will be missed!!!

  15. phancy says:

chuckles is to blame for dooce’s demise!

  18. Alex says:

Dooce was one of my favorites. I will miss Heather’s wit and penetrating observations. Best wishes,

  19. stan says:

Yo! Heather! Why you gotta play me like this? Every morning for almost a year IÃve been reading your site (almost the first thing I did after turning on the PC “ after looking at midget porn). Thanks for keepinà it real and reprezenting for all these months. Today after work, IÃm going to find the shop in Brooklyn where I can get a T-shirt made that reads œdooce.com “ R.I.P” in the font used by the New York Times and Gangs nationwide. First Biggie, then Tupac, now Dooce! Damn!

Can’t wait for your next reincarnation on the web…

  20. jen says:

Jon, thanks for not shutting down the Heather forum.

Heather–I have experience with the hell that gets created in response to family/friends/neighbors/employers seeing a side of you that just doesn’t fit in with the sweet little picture they have of you in their heads. So instead of directing this at you and your response to that pressure, I will say unto those who have caused this to occur: Boo! Hiss! You have defiled a great spirit and taken away the pipeline that let me know I was not alone and definitely NOT a freak. Fie upon you and a pox upon your house!

I will miss you, Heather. Truly.

  21. jeanette says:

I too must lament the loss of dooce.com. I think that the post from Jen said it better than I could, but I must also say that I don’t know either of you, but I checked both sites at least every other day. Thank you Dooce for making me laugh, and thank you blurbomat for letting me express my feelings here.

  22. eden says:

it’s okay, it can be really liberating to shut something down and start fresh. have a little doggy time, get married. if we find her again, terrific. if not, there’s always stan’s t-shirts.

  23. Misha says:

Dooce…..Damn! I will miss my weekly laugh. Any hints as to your new identity? I’m determined to track you down! (No, I’m not sick or crazy…just addictd to your wit and honesty) :) You were great, but I understand why you made this decision. Best of luck to you, Jon and thecutestpuppyonearth! Thanks Jon, for the space to say good-bye!

  24. kath says:

Why can’t I see blurbomat anymore? All I’m getting is a blank screen everywhere but in the comment page
