Pioneer Days

October 4th, 2002

Not looking so happy.
Back in the day, polygamy in the Mormon church was not for everyone. Only those in leadership positions. Generally those with some money, as supporting a large family required bank. Usually, getting a leadership position meant you had money (as it does today). I said usually. Easy, there.

I come from polygamists. My great-great grandfather had 7 wives. One of them left him. That would be my great-great grandmother. She paid for it. He left their offspring $1 each, so they couldn’t legally contest the will. This was over a hundred years ago. You wanna talk about punk rock women? o
