Acupressure vs. Nausea

July 29th, 2003

Attempting dutiful husbandry, I’ve tried to conjure up everything in my arsenal to alleviate the constant suffering I have caused my better half. It is my demon seed which has wrought upon her the vile consternation of neverending and acute nausea. And by God, I should be able to do something to at least remove the curse.

I have tried feeding her saltines, pickles and ice cream. Tried KFC, Wendy’s and a local burger joint that puts pastrami on their burgers. Tried dry Kix and Golden Grahams. Tried to not breathe on her with Corona Light breath. All to no avail. I found a great resource for nausea alleviation.

Except that it doesn’t work. o

Corona Light? I can’t believe that people actually drink something lighter than regular Corona.

All you can do is hold her hair back for her while she pukes. That and maybe ginger ale.

My favorite experience was going to get the nachos from taco bell at 3am, “because that is the only thing that will make me feel better!” and bringing them home to discover that their smell made her want to puke.

Take Vitamin B6 every morning. Without fail. It will dramatically reduce the nausea symptoms. I used it when I was pregnant, and it worked for me.

Just promise me you won’t say ‘Dig Deep’ while she’s pushing.

    Promise

Chamomile tea. However much you think it tastes and smells like cat pee, it WORKS, dammit!

ginger candies and the pickled ginger they give you at sushi restaurants got me (and a few other friends) through morning sickeness. i highly recommend it

i and john ashcroft don’t appreciate your referring to your babymaking stuff as “demon seed.” it makes it sound like your sperm is part of the axis of evil.

not that I have any experience with pregnancy yet but I’ve heard the best thing for nausea/morning sickness is this:

All we can think of is John Travolta in his most famous role, “The Boy in The Plastic Bubble.” Well, wait, then there is ET, you know what the CDC or whatever did to Elliott’s house when they found ET –All drastic, but Perhaps if you transform your house so to speak into the smell-free-zone… Is any of this makinig sense?

Time. Time is what cures nausea. — You’re a good man.

ginger tea before bed, ginger rectally (may burn just a little).

if you trust the doctors, you might try vitamins B (B6 seems to work the best), phenergan or zofran.
