Nothing like a green public fish market.

  2. Weasel says:

Pike Place? Old-time Seattle boy, here. Actually, I bugged out of there on a job opportunity in ‘97. Only been back for visits, so the picture is a nice bit of nostalgia.

I like your new hair-do, BTW.

  3. Natalie says:

Is that digital cross-process or analog?

  4. Says the blind man... says:

    “Hello ladies!”
    tips his hat

  5. sravana says:

Even this long-term Texan recognized Pike Place (Street?). Lately the weather here has been like Seattle, but without the trees… and with the rednecks.
    :P

  6. kristine says:

Jon, you should join the “tinted” group on Flickr. That picture would be awesome in there.

Oh and Leta looks JUST like you on Heather’s Daily Photo page. I never saw it in the 35, 681 pictures posted of her before. It took THAT look to see it. You have that look in a lot of the pictures she takes of you. It’s classic!

  7. Ariel says:

Lately here in the Seattle the weather’s been like San Francisco. February was foggy, sunny, and very little rain. Meanwhile, Los Angeles flooded. It frightens me.

  8. Ruth says:

Nice! What slide film did you use? My favorite for CP is Agfa 100.

  9. Mikeg says:

Pike Place Market. The little donuts. And the Pyroshkys. Heaven, dude.

  10. Leah says:

It’s Pike Place Market, like Mikeg said. The confusion comes through the fact that there is also a pike street, which goes EW from Capitol Hill straight into Pike Place Market. The name Pike Place Market comes from the NS street that runs along the east edge of the market, which is called Pike Place.

  11. Beth says:

Ahh…I should walk down there today and get some roasted cashews for lunch. BTW, it’s 65 and sunny out here. I don’t know who we pissed off, but it hasn’t really rained in months.

  12. Weasel says:

Beth, you’re killing me!!! The nut booth on the left, just a bit past the news-stand? The Roasted Jumbo Cashews? I’m living in DelaWhere these days and miss the market mightilly. nothing like that here. What they call a Farmer’s Market around here is nothing more than a bad flea market with a roof.

Mmmmm, two friand from Le Panier, a fresh borek from the turkish place, a mocha from The First Starbucks and a bag of Jumbo Roasted Cashews for the bus ride over to Alki, that would be a good day.

  13. Tammy says:

That was nice. And further proof that all the cool kids are cross processing. *hangs head in shame* why can’t I be a cool kid?

  14. beth says:

Poor Weasel. I’ll think of you when I go into DeLaurenti’s for fresh bread and gelato, and Taxi Dog for my kosher heart attack in a bun.

  15. cmj says:

1997, eh? My boy was born in February of 1997, so I don’t remember much of that year. I hear it was a good one….

Very nice picture, by the way.

Looks similar in quality to some Ektachrome pictures of one of the last games at Comisky Park that I did my brother the favor of developing at home, and then forgot one of the wash steps.

  17. BigA says:

One Hour Photo Processing is soooooo misleading.

  18. The Hours Slide By says:

    Love the picture, Jon.

Pike Place, eh? A friend and I are planning a trip to Seattle for the end of April, and the market is on our list of places to explore. Any recommendations, either in the market or in Seattle in general?

  19. Amanda B. says:

That is a cool picture. Sort of surreal and creepy. I like it and yet I am afraid.

Tell your purty wife not to let asshats hurt her feelings and piss her off. Screw em. (easier said than done, but people will be people)

(ginger who lives in the city where that sign was photographed)

It seems strange to me that anyone would be surprised that a person gossiped about at a blog would write the gossip a “personal e-mail”.

It’s the 21st century. A parent can proudly post photos of his or her child in a blog, and honestly, I’ve counted maybe one or two negative comments about Leta to every hundred compliments. I doubt the Armstrongs would raise a child who’s so fragile that she can’t handle that ratio.

And finally, and I wonder this ALL the time, why can’t people who are going to post lengthy anonymous screeds write them in a word-processing program and spell-check them before pasting them into the comments field? It really detracts from the argument when there’s a typo in every third line.

  21. RazDreams says:

oh gosh, dood, get a grip. hopefully you left your e-mail address for jon.

  22. ginger says:

Jon – go ahead and delete my previous post and I guess this one – now that the Suck Post is gone they don’t make sense plus it sounds like Raz is berating me. Which she’s not. Thanks!

  23. RazDreams says:

yes, i was definitely talking to the hater whose post is now deleted, as should mine and i guess ginger’s, as well.

  24. cindi says:

great colors on this picture – and since i didn’t comment on the previous leta photo i will now – she is gorgeous! i need to get me a pair of those glasses!

  25. sue says:

does it ever bother you that you’re married to a woman who helps perpetuate being mean?
