She’s a Rocker

July 20th, 2005

I keep thinking that I’ll get used to my wife popping up all over the place, but when it happens, I’m still filled with so much pride.

Yeah! (link goes to BBC News)

There is some good advice for people who publish online in the article. o

You know you’ve hit the bigtime when BBC takes notice. Congratulations to you both.

  2. Carrie says:

That must really be exciting. And hey, YOU are even in the photo in this article! :)

  3. Lala says:

Wow! And they used the photo with the good hair.
Tell her a belated “Hippo Birdie two ewes” from me. I didn’t want to get drowned out by the thundering mass of readers. Are you happy to be only partially visible?

  4. sue says:

Oh, you should be SO proud! What a woman! Tell her Happy Birthday from me, too! … and she looked TERRIFIC (as did you) on TV. I taped it and watched over and over and over. Okay, no, just kidding - don’t freak. I only watched it once. :)

  5. Ninotchka says:

She’s *so* the authority. I love that! And she gives great advice on blogging.

Many Congrats to Casa Armstrong & Happy Birthday Heather!

  6. J says:

“…freak that a person could ever hope for.”

~ “What is charming is the side of someone that shows that they’re a bit unhinged. If you can’t grasp the small trace of madness in someone, you can’t be their friend. But if you grasp that small point of insanity, “dÈmence,” of someone, the point where they are afraid or even happy, that point of madness is the very source of his/her charm.” (gilles deleuze)

  7. TB says:

Damn, you guys are popular. My husband even knows who Dooce is and he’s never read a blog in his life, other than mine.
Heather is a great writer. You both are. It’s clear how much respect you have for each other, which is so cool.
    Congratulations on the BBC.

  8. Kelly says:

That rocks! I read a message board daily and someone just today posted that Heather’s site is her new favourite!

  9. Bree says:

I have obviously been reading your wife’s blog for too long. At first glance, I thought you were proud of her for pooping all over the place. You know, what with her post about pooping in a hotel the other day.

  10. corinna says:

i doubt you will ever get used to it! it is too cool.

  11. impy says:

it just feels like those days,,,,when you are coming into the tolls. You at 35 miles faster than they suggest, come flying up to the 10 available lines with green lights, and you make an educated/snap/random decision on the fastest moving lane, only to discover that the car 5 in front of you has dropped their last quarter on the ground, which has rolled under the next waiting 3 cars, and at that precise moment you look behind you to see another 14 cars who thought you were Spartacus leading them to freedom, and effectively blocked you into a do not pass go and do not collect 200 bucks situation, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG LANE. I wanted in the lane for life that promised excitement, and success, brillance and intrigue. Jon and Heather got in the right lane!!!! How did I end up in the “my life is incredibly boring until I get to read a new post on Jon and Heather’s blogs for excitement” lane? this post brought to you by http://www.whiners-r-us.com

  12. miel says:

I like the part where they say “she often uses highly forceful language to drive a point home and her naked truthfulness can sometimes be unsettling.” Hell, yeah! AND SHE SAYS IT IN CAPS TOO. If you can’t handle you can just SUCK IT.

Tell Heather Happy Birthday from me.

  13. minxlj says:

Yep, that’s a cool birthday present, to be on the BBC! Congratulations to Dooce.

  14. Lisa says:

You should be proud! I want to be just like her when I grow up. (I’ll be 27 in October.)

  15. Michael says:

In regards to Bree’s comment about “pooping all over the place,” if your wife ever should have a miraculous cure from the constipation, you should consider remaking Ludacris’ current hit “Pimping All Over the World” with a slight word change.

  16. Congratulations. I wish she’d enable comments on her photos. I loved the “Charly and the Chocolate Factory” photo… Heather’s comment just sort of puts you there. :)

  17. Love both of you. My husband thinks I’m an uber dork because I won’t delete the Good Morning America episode with Heather onit, from out TiVo.

    Melanie

  18. I’m so old school I don’t have a TiVo yet, just a VCR (that’s magnetic tape, kiddies). I went on vacation for two weeks, and forced myself not to be obsessive and not to try to tape as much General Hospital as would fit on the tape.

But I did tape Heather’s GMA appearance.

  19. Kato says:

I can’t speak for anyone else, but she’s a regular source of entertainment for me, so you should both be very proud. Let’s hope she just gets better with age!

  20. James says:

I think you guys are a great blog team. Your sites really balance each other.

  21. I blogged today about Heather’s blog, my jealousy of her success, and her turning me down for advertising on Dooce.com. Tomorrow I think I’ll blog about poop.

Again, congrats to both of you. It takes two…

  22. Lily says:

Does anyone know if Heather’s interview from Good Morning America can be seen anywhere on the Internet? I didn’t tape or TiVo it. Thanks.

  23. char says:

I love it I just love it!

  24. Congrats to Heather and you! And Happy B-day to you, Jon. The picture on Dooce of you as a little boy is adorable. Can Leta look any more like you?

The picture of you and Heather in the BBC article made me laugh. Heather looks amazing as usual, but you are way too obstructed. Or did you request that?

  25. Lala says:

Happy birthday to you Mr. Nerd Dilettante! Your blogging and photography are a real source of enjoyment for myself and many others. May your wife treat you to a lovely spot of Harley riding for your birthday.

I want to sing the Beachboys ” A little Deuce Coop” to you but I keep slipping into a little Dooce poop.

  26. sue says:

Happy big 4-0 to you, Jon! What a cute picture Heather put up… guess I can see the attraction. Oh, and you might tell her that the Harley story is just a myth. I always heard it was horse-back-riding. Why girls love horses. Just a heads-up. :)

  27. Sarah says:

Just wanted to wish you Happy BIG 4-0!

    You don’t look a day over 37.

Hope this year is even better than the last for you and your adorable family!

  28. absolut doc says:

Happy 40th, blurb - remember, it’s only a number. And when your wife’s number is 10 yrs lower, that gets you extra bonus points in the game.

  29. Beth says:

Happy 40th Birthday, Blurb, and many, many more!

  30. Kathryn says:

    Happy 40th!

btw, the Harley thing? has the opposite effect, think NUMBING

  31. miel. says:

Happy Birthday!!! No, you don’t look 37–you totally look young. I think it’s hanging out with a baby all day.

  32. becky says:

    cool! congrats once again.

  33. Kim says:

I was gonna say the same thing Kathryn. Maybe a FEW minutes on a harley but more than that and tink numb.

Happy Birthday Jon!! I’ve gotta show you my flickr site. Some awesome pics with my new camera. I took 170 at the pool the other day. Never could do that with a film camera. I’m so happy I kept pointing out Heather’s and your photos to the hubby.

Soooooo, what technogadgit are you getting for your bday? (I’ll be 40 in a year and thinking up BIG things for it!!)

    Kim

  34. RazDreams says:

  47. Neil says:

I love the BBC. Brings a tear to my eye.

  48. uno says:

Dooce should be turned into a tv sit com.

  49. Joeythegirl says:

This is my 1st comment and I know you’ve heard it before so I’ll try to keep it short. You and Heather ROCK, Leta is BEAUTIFUL and Chuck…what a kool dog! I was referred to dooce by my friend Regina in SLC, who said after reading my blog she knew I would really enjoy it. I have spent the last two months reading dooce from the beginning and caught up yesterday, then I started reading Blurbomat from the beginning. I want to thank you for sharing your lives so openly with the rest of us. I too am an ex mormom if you count going to church twice so they’d “let” me be baptised when I was 8 yrs old…and then a later stint of being forced to go to church at 12 when we moved up to snob hill in Logan, UtahRD because my mom didn’t want us to be outcasts. I left the republican state right out of high school, but was sucked back in in my early twenty’s. I never thought we’d escape Utah, however my husband and I sold the house and moved to sunny Arizona 4 months ago! Thanks again for entertaining me while at work and feel free to check out our blogs: joeythegrl.blogspot.com and jorydanjohnson.blogspot.com

  50. Alright, birthday boy, it’s been way too many days since your last update. Get to work!
