Losing the Clog Battle

January 24th, 2006

I made my love of clogs clear a few years ago, but when we took Leta to buy some shoes, I saw this:

Kid-sized Clog

and made Leta try them on in her size:

Cute Clogs

I was informed that I would not be adding to the clog-count in the house. There is currently one pair of clogs in the home, and that is the limit allowed under Section XVII. My legal team has assured me that Section XVII is under review, but they wouldn’t say if the clog limit would ever be up for negotiation. I believe that allowable hours of CSI/Law & Order have been exceeded and I’ll have some bargaining power during the next quarterly review.

  1. But these aren’t clogs, they’re Crocs.

    They don’t count.

    Check Appendix E, Part II.

  2. Oh my gosh!!! Those are so cute Jon!!!

i’m not a big clog fan myself, but when you put something on tiny feet like that it automatically becomes hard to resist.

  4. Dude, is it wrong for me to tell you I have three pairs of those Crocs, just for me? (red, orange & purple!) It would seem like bragging. But here are some salient points for arguing for more crocs in the home: 1) they are exceptionally comfortable & lightweight, 2) they are perfect gardening shoes, what with the hose-them-off feature, 3) all the fabulous colors and 4) damn, Leta sure looks cute in them! Maybe Heather just needs to wear a pair to feel the lightness & love.

    OMG! Those are adorable!

I love clogs. For the exact reasons you put into your previous post. And the ones on Leta’s feet–adorable.

My husband just bought his first pair of Crocs 2 weeks ago and hasn’t taken them off yet. We are thinking of becoming a four pair family (a pair for each of us), but gosh, at $30 to $40 a pop, I wish those iddle-widdle kiddie feet didn’t grow so fast!

i am from boulder, home of the croc…it is nice to see our hippie ways spreading to the rest of the country… now if we could only manage to spread our political beliefs….

I don’t want to depress you (I’m a huge fan of the clog myself) but yesterday I saw my mother, yep, my MOTHER wearing the exact same style clog you have pictured above. Except I’ve now learned she has a mini-wardrobe of them in assorted pastels. She is in her 70’s. I can’t figure out if it’s a good thing or a bad thing but I know I refuse to purchase them because of it. Guess I’ll stick with Danskos.

Holey Soles!! Vancouver loves those shoes in the summer. In the winer they aren’t so practical in all of the rain. I have never heard them called crocs before.

So this is why you were at the lawyers. I’ve always hated clogs but those are really cute.

  12. Sanya says:

Those are so, so cute. :-[ I love your kid.

I just realized that that that might have sounded creepy. It isn’t; I just find her adorable. :’)

Ah, but those ones are SO DAMN CUTE on Leta. Sadly Jon, clogs just ain’t cute on guys. Not even cute, bearded Armstrongs I’m afraid. Only tiny toddlers can get away with those :)

  14. Shelli says:

Dude! Narda totally has the same damn rule as Heather!

I *HEART* me some clogs, but if I so much as DAIN to wear them, I get chastised.

AND, I totally concur on the Law and Order limit – UGH.

But I do admit to lovin’ me some CSI.

I have to side with your wife on this one. These are the ugliest clogs ever! Ugly for baby, ugly for men, ugly for women. Stop the madness
