Almost Two

February 2nd, 2006

Leta is talking. A lot. She’s switched lately from saying “mommy” every .2 seconds to saying “daddy” every .2 seconds. Supporting evidence is here. o

I thought she was saying “baby,” but I’ll take your word for it. :) It’s the giggle that slays me. And is that an “uh oh” at the end?

    Sarah Says:

    Ovaries exploded: check.

How amazing that she is almost 2 years old already!!
Friendly warning from a mom to a 10-yr. old girl: girls seem to have their ‘terrible twos’ at age 3. And they last until they turn 5. ;-) Thank you both for sharing that clip! I’ve been thinking a lot about my own daughter at that age recently, and it brought me right back.

    Tiggerlane Says:

OMG!! How incredibly cute!! Makes my ovaries actually pine for when my little girl was that age. (Now she’s 12 - and you don’t want to know what comes out of their mouths then.)

    Is that last part Melmo-related??

So touching. Hasn’t gotten that Southern twang just yet, either!

    Christine Says:

How cute! She shares a birthday with my daughter!

    Bucky Four-Eyes Says:

Oh, yeah, definitely “Da-ddy!” *giggle* “Uh ohhh!”

Moments like this, I wonder why in the hell I didn’t push out at least one baby when I had the chance.
Of course, then Heather tells a poop squirting out the diaper story, and I remember why I’ve always been so keen on birth control.

But Leta’s delighted laughter in this recording still makes me hesitate, wondering if perhaps all that flying baby poop isn’t worth it after all…

    awwwww that’s so sweet. :)

    Lala Says:

Thank you Jon. I have struggled to get pregnant for the past few years and looking at Leta has kept me going through a lot of that. I even went so far as to ask Heather if I could have her photo as my desktop(the one in the sink with someone washing her hair) because it just makes me smile to see her. Her voice added a charming new dimension to my Leta experience.
Happy tomorrow Birthday Leta, thank you Jon and Heather for sharing her with us.

Aw-w-w-w. Don’t ya just love it when they say “uh oh.” At least until you have to clean up the mess.

    Laurie Says:

The only thing I can really understand is the “uh oh”, but I am still weakened by the power of how cute that is.

    tk Says:

Could that be any cuter? I don’t think so!!!! Heather was right, my ovaries are now hurting…..

Hell, that’s so cute, even my ovaries are aching.

And I don’t even have ovaries. At least I didn’t the last time I checked.

    Sara Says:

So sweet! Thanks for sharing her little voice. We have one of our own, and she rarely stops the chatter, so I’m right there with you.

    lisa Says:

Cute doesn’t begin to describe it. Just wait until she starts putting together sentences. She could tell me to vote Republican in that voice and I’d be absolutely powerless to resist.

That is just adorable! She sounds like such a happy little girl. Happy Birthday Leta!

    lys078 Says:

She’s adorable. Was that an “uh oh” at the end? That’s been my twins’ latest in the last two weeks. Every time they drop something it’s, “uh oh”.

    Rose Says:

    Happy Birthday, precious girl.

    The Aitch Says:

    Whee! 2 already, I can’t believe it.

    Happy birthday Leta!

Oh, man! Might as well take my 52-year old, menopausal heart out, stomp on it and kick it through a plate glass window. On the other hand I can take a 30 minute shower, read an entire trashy-type magazine and well….there must be something else I can do with all this spare time…oh, nag my children about having grandchildren. That should do it. Anyway, adorable. When I had kids, now 26 and 30 both single males, we didn’t have sound bytes and digital cameras so other than a few snapshots and stretch marks you wouldn’t even know they existed. I can’t tell you how much, when you’re my age (which btw will happen much quicker than you think) these posts, photos and sounds will mean to you. Thanks for sharing them. It brings me so much joy to hear that giggle. All the mothers in the world have a giggle stored somewhere way back in our brains that sounds just like that.

    Gretchie Says:

uh OH!! Diggin’ the giggle, Elmo-Daddy.

    Meg Says:

I, too, thought it was “ba-by” and then “El-mo”… all the same, it was fun to listen.

    Vegas Vixen Says:

OMG. I think I got a new cavity from that sweetness! That is just too precious to hear! Happy Birthday dear Leta, and congrats to Jon and Heather for weathering the first 2 years! It only gets to be more fun from here! Just wait until she start noticing boys! LOL
Seriously, that is the most precious thing I’ve heard in a long long time. Thank you so much for sharing that with us!

I wish they didn’t grow up so fast. My littlest is turning 6 in April and I’m just about dying because of it.

  23. 23
    Kristine Says:

Mine are all grown up…if only they were that quiet now.

  24. 24
    tk Says:

Hey…. was that a fart that brought on the ‘uh oh’??? I heard some sort of sound in there between the adorable giggle and the uh oh. I figure that in the Armstrong household one might easily assume it was a fart sound…

    Torrie Says:

    Thank God I’m already pregnant.
