Catch Up
July 17th, 2006I’m sore, a little sunburned and a lot behind.
Who knew that even at 10,000 feet above sea level, there can still be effects from a heatwave? I was hoping for a respite, but it wasn’t to be. Even when the sun went down, the heat made the campfire and sleeping bag redundant.
I, along with my friends, hiked to the top of the peak in the center of this:
I’ll definitely have more photos of the trip up soon. o

Gorgeous shot. For the sake of your integrity, I hope you made that hike wearing clogs.
Sweet surroundings, my friend. Clogs or no clogs, I’m sure its a sweet place to be. Looking forward to more pics.
Are the rest of your hiking party clogged as well? Fantastic picture, enjoy!!!!
Gorgeous picture. I can’t wait to see more. (And welcome back.)
Gorgeous pic. I’m at high altitute too (Sierras) and we’re usually the coolest spot in the nation but there’s no respite from the heat here either …
Very cool. Even though it was hot and all.
I just spent a week in the Sierras and now am back in the high desert of Western Colorado. Man, this heat is just oppressive. But at least the view was nice and you were with good company.
I popped over to the site (from my RSS reader) to comment because I actually said out loud, “oh my god, that’s GORGEOUS” when I saw the photo above… and I see that “gorgeous” is the word that occurred to several others as well.
Sounds like you had an awesome adventure.
Was that in the Uintas?
That is an awesome picture! And whether you wore the clogs or not, since youre “war”; all Ive seen or read about lately are them.

Thats just two of them!! I hadn’t heard of them prior. Now you started something, or its the universes way of telling me that I should agree with you and buy a pair!
Good luck with the aloe!
Wow, I can’t believe there’s still water in that lake! (What with the heat, etc…) Purdy!
Nice. Good for you.
I just looked at the park map. Is there really a road to the top of that? I hope not.
Ah, I miss Utah! Can’t wait for more pics! At least the crocs have holes in them for air, right? At least your feet were cool…….
Did you leave a clog behind to claim the spot for the Clog Army?
That picture is gorgeous. And hot there or not, I’m gorgeous. Because it’s really hot in NYC and there’s no view like that to make up for it.
Beautiful!!! I can’t wait to see more photos.
I hope you had a nice and relaxing trip, and hope it was refreshing and helped you with the stress you’ve been under lately.
As I told Heather, you guys have all been in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you are doing well, too.
That is a lovely view. I’m officially jealous of the Armstrong partying.
Please, for the love of God, make that a nice sexy desktop for all of us to download.
I did a 3 day back-country hike in the Canadian Rockies last year, Suffered like a sinner come the rapture, and yet that picture makes me want to go do it all again. Nice.
You’re a lot behind? Come on, I’ve seen pictures and your behind ain’t that big…
Spectacular! What a view! The lake looks like the perfect spot to cool off.
gorgeous picture!
You’re having a heatwave there too? Same in the UK, only our scenery isn’t quite that spectacular. And I’m not 10,000 feet up
Btw I agree, that pic would make an awesome desktop pic. Great photos as always Jon!
