The Sound of Mac Nerds Exploding
January 1st, 2007Apple’s homepage has this image on it (as of publish time):
If you listen very closely, you’ll hear the sound of a few million or so nerds either exploding or acting like eleven year-olds. I don’t think this year’s Macworld can possibly live up to the hype, but it will be fun to watch the flying innuendo over the next week. o

I know I did both when I saw that… I made it my background image. Kind of gives me a little lift, even if it is just hype.

It’s pics like that that make me really sad I am in the job I’m in. I love it, but it’s all c# and .NET. For some strange reason, they don’t want to invest in Macs.

Been there, worked a booth, it was pretty cool. Having said that, I was amazed at the number of people coming up to me saying,”I don’t even want to be here. My boss made me come. I’m a PC user.”
I’d probably go again though, if for no other reason than to just hang out in SF.

I’ve never had anything but a Mac, from my very first Mac Plus to now, writing my novels on my PowerBook G4. At the end of this year it’ll be time to upgrade again, and I can’t wait.

i am going to working/attending this macworld - first one!
i’m pretty stoked.
i’m debating whether it’s time to upgrade this 12 inch powerbook for something better suited to managing all these damn photos.
and an aperture purchase is near inevitable. i’ve tried lightroom, it’s not grabbing me.

Let’s talk about the new Apple phone! What will it be called? iPhone is taken. Hmmmmmmm
What will it do? Last year (as in 2 days ago) I was eyeing the new and lovely looking Blackjack, although, I haven’t read much about its interface/software. I opted to wait on buying anything until the new Apple phone comes out.
The suspense is killing me!

Yeeee! Squeel like a little girl!
Seriously though MacWorld’s kinda lost it’s luster for me. I’m just hoping they revamp FrontRow so I can use my Mini in my entertainment center finally. Everything else? Eh, no big whoop to me.

I predict, and it is not a big leap, that if Apple launches a phone, it will be called the iPod Phone.
Or MacDialy Buddy, Jr.

I always look forward to Jobs’ keynote, and always watched the live stream (until they needed the bandwidth for iTunes…)
But for me, the real attraction of Macworld would be San Francisco, and the opportunity to eat in as many good restaurants as I could afford!

I’m crossing my fingers for a phone because I’ve never fallen in love with a mobile phone the way I’ve fallen in love with my Macs. I’d like to!
And I agree it can’t live up to the hype:
WHAT? My iPhone DOESN’T make julienne fries?? Where’s my receipt . . .

can’t wait for the rumoured Apple phone, possible touch-screen iPod, and of course there’s the actual ‘iTV’ that Jobs gave us a sneak peek of (v.rare for Apple!)…rumours will be flying but whatever comes out this year I can’t wait to see it.

There will be no phone announcement at MacWorld. Apple always stays on message and doesn’t clutter and confuse it.
This MacWorld is Leopard’s formal announcement. Look for Jobs to spend upwards to an hour showing off all the stuff from WWDC plus all the secret stuff held back.
Steve will then demonstrate upgraded iLife and iWork 07.
That will leave enough time for iTV or some quad core Mac upgrade as the one-more-thing.
If Steve announces iPhone at MacWorld, no one will be talking about Leopard the next day. Look for a special press event later in January or early February for the iPhone announcement.
What booth you working Jimbo?

If you combined Daffy Duck with the Coco Puffs bird and fed it 90 cups of coffee, that would approximate me and I’m not even going to MWE.
