Apparently, I’m Old
March 2nd, 2007dooce: Masthead tutorial, sort of
I always wear headphones or make certain Heather is away from the home when I play Steely Dan. Which I don’t listen to often enough.
In other news, yay! a dooce tutorial. o

I love Heather’s new masthead (and the tutorial), but I also love Steely Dan. Which I also don’t listen to often enough.
I’m torn. Where should my loyalties lie?

You may be an old, Steely-Dan-liking dude, but you’re married to a hot, young chick. So, let’s hear it for the old dudes!

I’m 30 and I love Steely Dan! Of course, the only one who will go with me to see Steely Dan in concert is my 54 year-old mother…my husband thinks it’s pretty lame.

I’ve told you before I think… my wife also can’t stand Steely Dan.
Donald Fagen’s voice reminds her of being pregnant and utterly miserable and morning sickness pukey while I played Fagen’s seminal “The Nightfly” ad infinitum.
Strategic error on my part. *sigh*

I’m lucky that my husband likes Steely Dan as much as I do. (Late 40s here.)

I love that one Heather, but her disdain for the Steely Dan hurts me. It hurts something powerful.
Sniff.
Hey! Have you introduced her to Chuck Mangione? (there is hope yet)

I’m sad to learn that Dooce is not a Fagan fan, but she does get points for marrying one.

I don’t think an age thing, myself. My husband I and were listening to Steely Dan (on 8-track, I believe) the night he proposed to me four years ago. (I’m almost 31, he’s 32.)
It’s OK that Heather isn’t a big Steely Dan fan. I’m not a big Britney Spears fan myself (of her music or her celebrity). To each his/her own…

I’ll say it again…. you’re as old as you feel. Are you on Prozac too? You and Heather should watch The Secret.

As another guy fortunately in this category, I’d like to suggest that the proper non-backhanded-compliment conjunction is *and* … *and* he’s married to a hot, young chick.
Some tour dates announced at the band’s site, btw. Hopefully more to come.

Drink scotch whisky….all night long…..
HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE LYRICS LIKE THIS? So simple, so elegant. So easy to grasp…

I’m 25 and love Steely Dan. The man in my life can play the whole Nightfly record, from memory, on guitar. It’s the hottest thing I’ve ever seen/heard.

Steely Dan is an evil sound. Hubby is not allowed to play them when I am anywhere in the vicinity.
