Based on first-hand evidence, I concur with Rock’s statement about white women. On every level. o

I am a white woman, and I agreed with all of it too, while laughing with tears in my eyes. Great stuff.

Chris Rock is great. And I totally agree with everything he said, too, especially the retarded president comment.

The fact that these people are laughing about these atrocities and that a black man is out there instigating it are extremely disturbing to me. Its unfortunate that our society will allow this kind of racism still. Had this been Jimmy Fallon, he would have been thrown in jail or killed due to a riot. “As long as its one of our own mocking it, sure, what the hell.” I just don’t get it.

Skowronek… I only need to bring up that screechy white woman whose last name rhymes with bolter. That she hasn’t suffered more public disdain only shows that comedians are allowed some degree of latitude.

I’m a black man. And I think this is awful.

Not a Chris Rock fan, Brenden?

Re: Chris Rock’s point about only white women hating her: to be “fair,” I have encountered a *lot* of white men with a strong, visceral hatred for her as well. What’s that about, I wonder?

    Jennifer Says:

To Marie- that is very true. White men, as a whole, view her as the pants-wearing member of her marriage and, while it’s more common these days, they hate to have it blatantly paraded around and (horrors!!) accepted. She’s a strong educated heterosexual woman who could be dumped by her husband tomorrow, and just roll with the punches. How dare she imply that men aren’t “needed”? Oy vey, get a grip guys and rein in that fragile ego.

But…there is still no excuse for not having a woman president by now. Hillary is our best shot. She can hold her own against just about any man- and in just about any way. My theory is that women are simply competitive to a fault. By toasting their glass to another woman, they’re saying “that woman is better than me”, which they find offensive. Like the only way to succeed is by making others fail. Men are taught at an early age about teamwork, choosing a leader and supporting that leader, etc. Women aren’t.

Oh- and I’m a white woman and I thought it was hilarious! Thanks for the link :)

i find it unfortunate that chris rock limits his historical evidence for white american women’s hardships to the twentieth century while he extends that of black men to history dating deep into the nineteenth century.

a lot changed for both groups during these two centuries, and the humor is lost on me when the comparison has this obvious fault. white women were burned alive just as black men were.

regardless, it is a shame that this is what politics is accepted to be about. what a reduction. i have no sense of humor for attacking the suffering of others.

    blurb Says:

Rock didn’t appear to be attacking as much as stating stereotypical and comedic truths about two groups that are represented (so far) in the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.

allison, it would appear that several of the latter comments don’t have a sense of humor about the video.

Marie, Ms. Coulter was not mentioned explicitly by Rock in the video. I don’t know what you are talking about.

    Jennifer Says:

Yea- both white women and black men have been screwed over by white men. I get it. I don’t think anyone is seriously trying to argue who was shafted the most. Chris Rock is funny and there is a lot of truth to his words. Can we just enjoy the joke without Freud-ing it to death? Lot of people hate Hillary because she didn’t dump Bill, lots of people are racist.

    It. Was. Still. Funny.

    Let it go.
