This is from one of the most conservative counties in the United States. The holes in the logic are astounding, but that this would even be considered says so much about the state of fundamentalism in Utah and the U.S.

My partner “alerted” me to this article. My comment here is the same as I said to her… “This proves it, the stock-pile of crack that they have been using has gone rancid… these guys are all bat-shit-nut-jobs!

When I lived in Utah, I pretty much had to leave town when the state legislature was in session.
As for the premise of the resolution, I don’t see how immigration makes the country godless. If anything it makes it more Christian. Mexico is a pretty Catholic place, and they’re the type of Catholics who actually show up to church.
Oh well. I guess I got out while the getting was good.

Yep, Chuck would certainly make a better politician than these people, and that’s just when he’s licking his empty nutsack…

I would *never* condone the lack of religious freedoms that exist in Mainland China (or anywhere else)…
But crap like this really confirms the the government’s paranoia about religion and is probably why they’ve refused to let up on the laws about who is allowed and who is recognized (the big 5 only) and who isn’t (everyone else).
It also makes me apprehensive about coming back. Sometimes I forget about all the rightist craziness over here. (Partially because there is plenty of other craziness to deal with.)

I hope that didn’t sound like I was suggesting that irrationality in Utah is the ONLY reason why the CCP has paranoia and rhetoric regarding religion. That’s clearly not true. Definitely is NOT the only reason or even the main reason.
Just a ‘confirmation’ of their rhetoric and paranoia.

Michael: Salt Lake City is waaaay more diverse than Utah County….at least it was when I was growing up in UC. SLC folk have to deal with a little diversity of opinion. In Utah County, not so much. My mother signed me up for the Young Republicans, never once asking me what I believed. The first time I admitted to voting for a Democrat, we had an argument over the dinner table.
I left because I was really tired of living in Utah, and sometimes I wish I’d stayed, just to provide some of that much needed diversity of opinion.
