SLC folk have to deal with a little diversity of opinion. In Utah County, not so much. My mother signed me up for the Young Republicans, never once asking me what I believed. The first time I admitted to voting for a Democrat, we had an argument over the dinner table. I left because I was really tired of living in Utah, and sometimes I wish I'd stayed, just to provide some of that much needed diversity of opinion. But crap like this really confirms the the government's paranoia about religion and is probably why they've refused to let up on the laws about who is allowed and who is recognized (the big 5 only) and who isn't (everyone else). As for the premise of the resolution, I don't see how immigration makes the country godless. If anything it makes it more Christian. Mexico is a pretty Catholic place, and they're the type of Catholics who actually show up to church. Oh well. I guess I got out while the getting was good.
