I work at a university, and recently had a parent contact my office for help with completing a job application - for her son. Her 21 year old able-bodied son who was sitting right next to her when she called. “Extreme Helicoptering,” we call it.

Had not heard of that phrase until I started working at a university in the administrative offices. They can be tres amusing.

As a soon-to-be-moving-out-of-the-house-high school-graduate, helicopter parenting inspires me me to buy a long-range shotgun.
But. . . the further I get from the nest, the more I understand their motivation. Good luck to you, sir!
