I like the iphone, but I still can't believe they didn't put a gps in it. I won't be spending $500-600 on a phone unless it's gonna tell me where I am.

Jon, you're so soft on techology!

Don't you want an FM receiver built in?

Yes, there was a comment on another blog where the reviewer listed "no integrated FM radio" as a CON.

I think we should ship people like that to Utah.

Er, Wyoming. Yeah, I meant Wyoming.

Sara, have you touched an iPhone?

Do any of the phones you mention automatically join open wifi networks? Have visual voicemail that can be replayed like an iTunes song (rewind again and again by touch to just the spot you need to repeat)?

I can't respond to the Q or XV6700, but you should play with an iPhone. I'd love to hear your comments of comparison.

In all fairness to us who are not devoted to Apple, I have had all these features for almost a year on my Motorola Q, including Google maps (which does rock!). The screen isn't as big as the iPhone but my husbands Verizon XV6700 is bigger. And it has the touchscreen too. I'm still wowed by the Smartphones. And I can upgrade the Windows Mobile OS very easily.

Don't get me wrong, the iPhone is great, but it's not revolutionary.

@Jenni

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised about the durability.

I'm just worried about durability.

People drop cell phones all the time.. I would think the iPhone is just as fragile as an iPod (or more so)..

Laura, it's dead simple. There is one button on-screen to push to take the picture. That's it. The shutter lag is a little weird, but over on powazek.com, Derek talks about how to get good shots with an iPhone:

Congrats on the purchase. I about drooled all over one at the Apple store yesterday. It worked as good-if not better- as the Apple instructional video. Amazing. Is it just me or does this feel like we are at the beginning of a major technology breakthrough? I look forward to more "real-life" reviews of the next big thing.
