From michael's comment:

"Single/gay bars are for meeting people. Bathrooms are for going to the bathroom. Mr’s. Roy and Craig both seem a bit confused about that."

I'm not too sure I agree with that. Work is for working, but many meet a mate at the job. Bus stops are for "waiting," but many meet a mate standing on the corner.

Public places are just that... public places. And technically, unless a "house rule" is in place, people are free to engage in legal behavior in public places.

I wonder the ratio of people who met matches in public places vs. singles/gay bars (which you hint is the only public place people should make their mate preferences known.)

I certainly don't necessarily agree with Craig's lifestyle choice but (1) his alleged "sin" isn't any worse than anybody else's - including my own and (2) it's a shame how hypocrisy can be the slimiest, stinkiest boomerang on the planet.

From the Salon article:
"If one person hitting on another person in a public place is a crime, then every singles bar in the country on a Friday night is a hot spot of unforgivable crimes"

What is unfair is comparing a singles bar to a public bathroom and calling people who believe that two different codes of behavior should govern those locations prudes.

What lostinutah said!

Larry Craig is a mean spirited and narrow minded person who used his office to push a mean spirited and narrow minded agenda down peoples throats.

In the end, what Craig got was a taste of his own medicine. Had Craig acted (and voted) differently throughout his time in office this would have turned out differently.

Checkout what Craig had to say about Bill Clinton in 1999.

Pontificate about how married people need to make thier unions stronger.. And Larry Craig should have his lawyer on speed dial, not manual, what a dumbass.

I'm glad to see him go because he is such a hypocrite. If he had just come out and said "I'm gay, so what?", I would have supported his staying in the Senate. But when you are a lying asshole, you need to be fired. And David Vitter needs to be fired as well.

All those holier-than-thou, "family value" politicians--Republicans and Democrats--make me puke.

Given that the left has failed so miserably politically by trying to stay true to bigger cultural questions like eliminating Puritanical oppression--I say we can work on that stuff later after we do whatever it takes to get those freaks off the hill and out of our lives.

He really is a wanker (I'm from Idaho, so I have 27 years of firsthand knowledge) so I'm not sorry to see him go. But it's because he's a hypocrite, not because he's (perhaps) gay - so whoever the term hypocrite applies to should go as well as Larry.

I agree. If he's going to be forced to resign, let it be because he's a wanker (a detestable person).
