you know, he's a brilliant musician and, in my opinion, has one of those direct cords to heaven where they transmit the good songs. he's not on the sauce or the speedballs anymore, but here's the deal:
a. he's a genius. who doesn't know a crazy, socially stunted genius?
b. there were sound issues that night that were persistent and annoying, not an excuse, but another layer.
c. dude had just broken up with the girl that got him straight that he'd been dating for 2 years - for the entire time that he'd been straight. how'd you feel if you were blitzed most of your life and the one person you were with in the frighteningly clear world for the first time kicks you to the curb? i'd probably have a crap night/week/month too.
everyone's entitled to a bad night, even if it's your job not to have them.
i saw him maybe a week after that and it was the most brilliant show i'd seen to date, replete with fun combat chicken songs, a second set where he sang the first 5 songs in a GWAR persona including chain mail shirts and knee-high combat buckle boots and 3 hours of the most beautiful stuff i'd heard in awhile. and you know what, i got "sweet carolina" AND "come pick me up". i haven't seen a bad show yet and i'm pretty sure he'd have to torture the cutest puppy in the world before i could think about hating him or not giving him another chance to impress me or make me fall back in love with his music.

sorry for the epic.

A friend of mine saw his show in Sydney, Australia. Said that sucked too. I wonder if he's had a good show on this tour...

I had a ticket with my name on it for this show. I chose not go because I think he's a brilliant song writer and I really enjoy his music, and I didn't want to take the chance of him disappointing me with a live show hissy fit. My wife wasn't so lucky, she went. She said she won't give him any more of her money, because Ryan screwed those people who paid good money to see his show. It's all so unfortunate that a guy with this kind of talent has such little regard for his fans.

This guy needs to try out personal in-ear monitoring, with direct talkback to the monitor console so that he can tweek his mix during the show by actually talking to the monitor engineer.

I just mixed monitors for a major Canadian act, and we had trouble with the in-ear mix during the very first song. The artist was missing the left channel of a stereo mix. We didn't have direct talk back, but we were able to get the problem sorted out by bypassing the EQ rack for his left ear, and direct patch from the console directly to the transmitter. Problem solved.

My husband has a band, and let me tell ya, if the sound isn't working, it's a miserable experience to be onstage. That said, you would think that a professional musician would have worked out the kinks and not pitch a hissy.

Am I the only one who misread that as "Bryan Adams has meltdown at concert"?

Why don't I care about this twit. He's arrogant, he's addicted, he's loaded and can afford the best care.

The addicts I feel for are the ones on the street who don't have a hope in hell of getting help even if they want it because the government couldn't care less about them.

But Adams? Ack...enough.

It's a shame. He's such a brilliant musician when he's actually focused on the music.
