@Carmi: They still get it? They've been losing touch little by little, month by month. Remember those simple days of Panther and the early days of Tiger? I wish I could feel that way again. Now when I use Apple products, I feel like an orphan who has no choice but to go home to foster parents that beat him constantly. Would some incredible and impossibly awesome computer hardware/software company please adopt me??? Make sure you're compatible with Adobe products, too.

Anywho... I had to upgrade to Leopard to use Boot Camp, but didn't really want to. Don't want to run Windows, and am not confident in Linux, from a graphics-professional standpoint. Apple needs to not worry about being the cool kid and just do things right again. And innovate goddammit (*ahem* tabbed finder anyone? Anyone?)

Frighteningly, I DO care! I still think Apple "gets" the UI zeitgeist in ways that other vendors simply do not.

When the original OS X UI was described as "lickable" way back in 2001, that was all we really needed to know.

Little things can make a big difference in how we use them. In that sense, Apple's definitely on to something. It amazes me that the rest of the world still hasn't figured it out.

It seems like lots of Apple UI decisions are based on what looks cool in a TV commercial or looks interesting in the Apple Store, like the Dock. But after an hour or so of use, you realize what a pain it is.
