Falling Over and Possibly Down
November 19th, 2007If you have not yet, I invite you to take a look at the new dooce.com. Refresh your browser. Probably a lot of times. Update your feed link.
Bigger photos! Easier to get around! Better search!
I’m ready to pass out and I didn’t even do the really heavy lifting. After looking at all the options, we made the move to Drupal and I’ve been pleased, surprised, frustrated and impressed. It’s a very robust, if stubborn platform. The next few weeks and months will be boot camp for me. Most platforms are stubborn. It’s the way of the world.
We hope you enjoy the site. I’m going to enjoy sleeping. More later, internet. o

BRAVO! The dooce site looks fantastic. I love the new layout as well as the addition of daily style. Good work, folks.
Wow, you too have gotten busy! And you redesigned her website!
Looks amazing!
It is lovely – beautiful design, stunning photos, and I love the new Style section! Very well done to both of you – definitely worth all of the hard work.
LOVE IT! Great job, Blurbodoocery!

I love the bigger pictures. Great job.
the black-and-purple masthead reminds me of the dark chocolate hershey kisses (wrapped in purple). yum! (and awesome!)
It looks amazing, but where’s the hot chicks room?
Any way we can get the photos back in the RSS feed?
awesome job. i can’t WAIT for the daily style section, ever since she mentioned it a few months ago i’ve been checking back like crazy. plus the pictures, i’m in love with the pictures. the more chuck, the better.
Hawt.
@Brewcaster. Coming soon, but in the meantime, hit the “RSS Feed” link at the bottom of the page. That will at least let you know when a new photo is coming. We’ll add categories to the feed as well. Just trying to do things at a measured pace as to not go INSANE.
GORGEOUS! I love it all. Worth the wait. Congratulations!
You know how you get a fabulous new hair cut and it takes you a few days to get used to it?
This is kinda like that. Fabulous, but I haven’t wrapped my brain around it yet.
Blurb – will there still be monthly mastheads or will this be just the main one?
Love the content, but the design, eh? Between the oversized masthead and the ads, you’ve covered 3/4 of a 1024 x 768 screen.
I also preferred the daily links broken out instead of inline–made it easier to look at the week’s worth.
Still, I appreciate the work involved and look forward to the continuing evolution of the site.
i like it!
easier to read, easier to navigate, bigger pics!
bravo.
should i send you that costco size bottle of makers mark now?
@Jeff, Noted. Thanks for the feedback.
@the mighty Jimbo, anytime, baby. Just disguise it.
It came out great, Jon. I run on Drupal as well and understand both your love and frustration with it. Once you get the hang of the “Drupal way” things get a little more intuitive.
It’s beautiful!! Well done.
It’s great looking! Inviting, classy layout. Thank you!
I do agree with Jeff on the design. On my laptop this morning it was hard to navigate around and see everything (Ooh, there are the Flickr photos!) My small screen seemed overwhelmed. On my work computer which has a much larger monitor it is better. But on smaller screens it’s a little frustrating. And I also liked the links as their own section.
That all being said, however, I love the Daily Style and the comments with the photos. The new content is fabulous. Great work. All the effort you both have put into this is very obvious. Now, go drink yourselves into a stupor!
Any reason why you settled with Drupal? You’re making me second guess my Joomla commitment.
Great work, guys! The new look is lean and clean. I especially like the new larger daily photos.
I do agree with Jeff in that I, too, prefer the daily links broken out instead of inline.
Kudos to you both on a hard job well done!
