I can sympathize with you -- here in Madison, WI, we have had 73.7" of snow dumped on us so far this winter. We are 2" shy of breaking the all-time record set in 1978. We got 13.3" on Wednesday alone. I can understand and appreciate the need for the new snow blower. Both Mother Nature and Al Gore can both take a jump in a lake as far as I'm concerned.

If you're broke, why do you need to clear the driveway? You can't afford to go anywhere. ( ;

I live in Michigan's UP, and we are SNOWMASTERS! I was chuckling to myself reading about your 5HP snowblower. How cute. How quaint. How silly. Up here, you aren't a real Yooper [read: local] unless you've got an 8HP. 11HP is better.

Cool machine. People who don't live with the kind of snow you get in Utah (and I get in MI's Upper Peninsula) probably can't relate to how essential snowthrowers are. And note that I said snowTHROWERS, not BLOWERS.

Where we live, the township plows the roads after it snows, coming around at about 6AM. They pile so much snow/ice in the end of the driveway, it's essential to get out shortly after they come by to clear the end of the drive. The idea of having someone else come by and clear your drive is a nice one, but they're not likely to get out there in time.

For two mornings in a row, I've been faced with a foot or more of snow to clear from the driveway.

I've resisted the urge to buy a snowblower - I'm pretty handy with a shovel and snow scoop - but today my aching shoulders and arms are very jealous of your Honda.

WOW. I know we get 'some' snow in the UK but I have NEVER seen anyone buy their own snowblower, or hire a snowplough. My word.

Great deal you got - Honda are unbelievably awesome. Brilliant products. Their cars I ADORE (I have the UK 2006 Accord Exec CDTi), their adverts/commercials I am in love with, and if they sold children I'd buy one. (5-yr warranty?) I'd probably buy the snowblower too, even though we don't really get any :-D

In a couple of years Leta can clear driveways and put the proceeds in her college fund. It's all in how you look at it -- anything that generates returns is capital, not consumption.
