I really enjoy your photos, esp. when they are large. I’m just curious, how do you keep people from “right-clicking-and-save-as” the large photos here and on Heather’s website? I just had one of my photos on Flickr “borrowed” without my permission and was wondering how you guys handle copyrights?

Brian, thanks! FYI, we sue the living daylights out of people with expensive and powerful lawyers.
Joke.
We yell at people who steal and tell them not to and/or to remove the stolen photo. If somebody did it for profit and without attribution, the gloves would come off.

What if someone right click/save as-’s your photos, rubs them vigorously on the top of their head to build up a static charge and then goes around zapping people with their index finger?

Totally weird that this is your post today. I just love you and Heather and keep up with you guys and your sweet little Leta. Anyway, last night I had a dream that I stole a photo from one of your pages and used it on my own. I was so worried I was going to get caught and was ashamed of myself. The photo was beautiful, though. I remember the colors being amazing. Good job!

I was initially going to comment about the images not appearing in the RSS feed, but it appears Paul in Kirkland has that one covered. So instead I’ll just compliment you on the design.
The new site design is really growing on me. I was dubious at first, but that is probably just my pathological fear of change. I especially like the post pages and the way the large photos look on the dark background. It is outstanding.

Your puppy is one of the cutest I’ve seen. Those white eyebrows are the best. How large will she be when full grown?
As for your photos, I will confess that I have used a couple as a desktop photo in the past. I used to live in Utah and I miss its natural beauty. Chicago’s great but nothing compares to the mountains.

Coco is such a beauty! I love this photo and the one on Heather’s of her licking poor, long suffering Chuck (I am reading a book by Stanley Coren about dog behaviour in an effort to understand my challenging but sweet Beagle, and apparently, face licking is a submissive gesture, so she is at least acknowledging that Chuck is her leader!). I was looking at a pet store the other day (I know, horrible, my dog is a shelter dog!) and I saw a mini Aussie who looked just like Coco and she NEVER stopped bouncing up and down for a second … I had a new appreciation for how brave you guys are!

You both (Heather) have inspired me to take more pictures everyday and share them with my family with a short note about what’s going on. I have a new 10D and I slowly getting better. I am by no means a writer, so it won’t be interesting to anyone else to read in the whole world, but they all live far away and won’t miss out on so much. It really is the little, everyday stuff that helps you KNOW a person. It is so refreshing to read about the trials and joys of your family…you make this planet seem just a little smaller. Thanks for putting yourself out there.

Here’s another idea that I wonder if you have considered: doggy portraits. Seriously, there is a big market for this, and you and Heather capture great images of your dogs. I know I would love to have some wonderful, professional photos taken of my two.

Have you thought about including the characteristics of each photo you take, i.e. f stop, shutter speed, etc. ?

@McDonie, I have thought about it. Photoshop’s terrible “Save for Web” doesn’t save the EXIF info and the “Save As” JPEG options keep the EXIF, but don’t let me see how good/bad the compression is going to be. It’s a real oversight from Adobe as far as I’m concerned. I love Lightroom, but the exports from Lightroom are problematic (unless one views this site with Safari, which 20% of visitors do, but the other 80% do not).
