Honkers
February 28th, 2008I heard some honking and Heather yelled, “Geese!”
I swung around and caught this. It almost looks fake. Or like a multiple exposure. Nature is cool sometimes. o

I had no intention of commenting on every single photograph you post on here, but — wow. Just wow.

Wonderful.

At least the honking wasn’t an oncoming bus or something!

that’s an amazing shot Jon .. love the way it look like the first bird (on the left) in sequence as his wings flap .. very cool! I loved your deer photo too, what camera did you take that with?

Nature IS cool sometimes. And cruel sometimes. You got one of the lovely, cool moments here.

I am amazed by this picture, it is beautiful. Great job Jon.

Sometimes? Often.
Nice shot.

I immediately thought those two exact things…is that fake? Is it a bunch of combined photographs? Then when I realized it wasn’t, it made the image that much more amazing! Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Great photo — turn it into some cards and I’ll buy them.

Jon,
Did you nail the exposure with cat like reflexes or did our friend AUTO do it’s job. The white just pops those birds. There is also our other friend from Adobe.
GREAT SHOT!

wow. that is incredible - it does look sort of fake….or like one image transposed several times.

1. I see so many geese around our house, I don’t normally think of them as beautiful. Those are beautiful geese.
2. It almost looks like an oil painting

I think you should offer your photos for sale. I don’t normally buy other people’s photos… but I would buy yours. This one (and the last few you have posted) capture nature in such a simple yet perfect way. I love ‘em!

When my husband proposed, he said, “I want us to be like geese.” And I’m all WTF? Then he says, “They mate for life, you know.”
So I ‘m partial to geese. Great shot, Jon.

that is a brilliant photo…
btw, i was just visiting your wife’s site and just laughed so hard at the picture of coco and chuck. he looks positively defeated and her expression is so regal and “i’m all that and then some…” with her paw over chuck’s. who’s the boss now?

Damn dude. Nice.

I loved southerngirl’s comment. I was just going through some old Wall Street Journals this morning and ran across an article on “Keeping Love Alive.” Geese, Prairie Voles, Gray Foxes, Gray-headed Albatross and Pygmy Marmosets all mate for life. The said the Prairie Voles court for 6 to 24 hours and stay paired for life. I wonder what that is in Vole years.
Great picture…..you and Heather have been at the right place at the right time recently. Hmmm…..it was meant to be. I caught a great shot of the vineyards by where I work this morning. The vines are dark and creepy and it was foggy to the ground and the sun was trying to shine through the fog. A be here now moment……..

That’s gorgeous Jon…you were very lucky! I would enlarge it onto a massive canvas and hang on my wall in my lofty apartment…if I had one!
BTW, I’ve been wondering (I’m sad I know) how your sinus treatment is going!!!! Is it working?

Damn beotch! Unbelievable shot. I bet you got a boner when you saw how this pic turned out.
February 28th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Dammit. I bet those bastards are all heading back to Canada to poop in our parks. Beautiful shot, though.

This picture is a LOT like what I’ve been trying to paint recently. Do you mind if I use it as a resource for my thesis presentation?

Wow, that is cool! I love the crisp green set against the white sky.
