I loved my mix-of-quite-a-lot Zoe from the moment we picked her out at the shelter at only a month old, but we didn't really completely bond until the night she became very sick from getting three puppy shots in one day. Shaking like crazy and burning up with a fever, she stayed by my side as I watched her all night and gave her little sips of Children's Motrin (as the vet recommended). She's nine and a half years old now and the most loyal and protective being I've ever known.

Once Coco stops growing and settles into being a dog instead of a puppy, things will be better.

That's awesome. If we had snow like that I'm sure that my dog would never leave the house. She'd just do her business inside. She's not an all weather dog. Very texture sensitive that one.

I am a geek that names my cars... my first VW Beetle was named Beatrice. When it died a sudden death mere 8 months later, the new car was named Kipper. Cause he's a winner...

That is a spectacular shot.

It took me a moment to realize she was in motion when you snapped.

It's so perfect it looks like she froze in mid air for the shot, like America's next top model dog!

I love how she seems to be watching you as she's being all crazy-like, as if to say ~ watch me! watch me! are you getting this?!

I agree that puppies are like babies in that you forget how bad it can be. Except that I don't have a baby yet, but it's what I imagine it would be like. We got our dog Porter (an Alaskan Husky of the sled-dog variety) at 7 weeks, and is about a year & a half old now. My husband has already forgotten about the sleepless nights, the endless puppy crying, and taking him outside constantly, usually involving statements like ~ just pee already! He (my husband) thinks we need another dog to keep Porter company. I am of the opinion that we have the baby, see how it all goes, and THEN....MAYBE we can get another puppy.

Hope things improve for you soon :)

Probably the best thing to do, is go to Puppy training class or go to a Potty Training Seminar at PetSmart. The seminar's are free, I work at PetSmart and thought (I used to train my own dogs) that I had all the tricks, but the seminars are good because of socializing and they help with the potty issues faster than just doing it yourself.

I have aggressive dogs, so it's a real treat to have my house dog trained before they hit one year.
