Spoon
March 17th, 2008This was taken off of 4th Street in Austin. I hoped to take a few hundred downtowny, texture shots because I love the flavor of Austin. It was not to be. I’ll post the few I’ve got and hope that next time we are in Austin, we can budget a few hours to walk around and shoot the hell out of it. o

I know what you mean. When I’m in Mexico, I could take nothing but shots of doors and doorways. They are so full of texture, light, color. Little stories all to themselves.

This reminds me of a vintage Infinity pool… which is impossible since Infinity pools are too new to be vintage. But I think it all the same

That’s funny Laney…the first thing that I thought of when I looked at this was “wow, I really want to go swimming.”

It’s a shame they took down the giant fork in Hyde Park–THAT was fun to photograph. Sigh, I miss Austin. (But Austin really doesn’t like me–it’s kicked my ass one too many times)

Texas is the best thing like Mexico sometimes without crossing the boarder… Love photos of urban stuff like this. Ditto the comment about photographing in Mexico. Mexico City, Oaxaca, Puebla, ruins in Yucatan, you name it, where ever you go in Mexico there’s neat stuff to photograph. I need to create a new website and put some up from past travels. Maybe someday….

Im the same way with sunsets. I take pictures of sunsets and rainy days all the time. I love the texture and colors of the clouds and such. Everywhere I travel I always get pictures of the sky.. the amounts of pollution in different places makes for amazing color washes sometimes

wow. same thing happened to me. i was in austin for the film festival, i did a real cool indie last summer that premiered there:

and i brought two cameras, 30D and Holgita, thinking that i would shoot so many pictures that my head would spin.
but no. i took two rolls on the holga, 12 each, and only walked away with like 20 or so from senor digitale.
what was it? i feel like when i got there my normally serious photo-mojo was zapped.

Wow. that is gorgeous. you and Heather have inspired me to go out, buy a proper camera and start taking photos. I’m a newbie, but I figure the canon xti 400d should do me good. The next step is getting a job…hmmm.
By the way, Polly, that movie looks great. Where can I see it?

enjolie: hopefully everyone and their uncle can see the movie when it gets bought and distributed all over the world. but right now it’s only in film festivals - coming soon to dallas, nashville, nyc…
