Also a long time reader, never comment....

I'm in Waco too- and no one wants another Branch Davidian scenario. And just know, when all that happened, I'd lived in Waco all my life and had no clue where that place was or how to even get there....Waco got the short end of that stick because we were the next "city" where the big news trucks could set up camp.

I also work for the state, and know that many of my friends who happen to work in child protective services are headed that way to help with the crush of children.

It's a very sad situation.

Long time listener, first time caller...
I'm from Waco and I can speak on the subject. I even rode this weekend the 30 minutes outside of town it takes to get to the compound site because most people still don't even know where it is/was. (sorry blurb, it was on my motorcycle in short sleeves and 80 degrees).

No, we don't want another Waco. You guys in Utah want it? We'll give away a large portion of the state and just call it Utah 2. Hell, I'd do it for free, but I'm sure there's a law that we have to take something for it, like a 6 pack of Shiner. Bet that'd do it.

One of the reasons (historically) Utah and Arizona have been reluctant to perform such a raid is the failure of the Short Creek raid.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Creek_Raid

I myself am delighted to see such measures following the prosecution of Warren Jeffs.

I have to say as an ex-Mormon it still gives me a tiny weird chill to read about police officers raiding the FLDS temple*, but I have hopes that the over-all result will break up the power structures of the FLDS and provide many women and children with the opportunity to make some kind of break.

*(Not that I believe the FLDS temple should be held sancrosanct or anything, but when you have 20+ years of the word "temple" meaning just that, it's a bit of mental whiplash to imagine the raid going on.)
