When I first saw this photo (before reading the rest of the post) my thought was "God damn he's a good photographer." How lame that you have to explain your art to people. I also love the high contrast and saturation. You do fantastic work.

Anyway, Hi! I'm usually a lurker but thought I'd pop in to say that.

As a fellow tinkerer, I enjoy the saturated colors and manipulation. What you can do in Aperture and photoshop is half the fun! http://www.flickr.com/photos/meganhalpern/2316232145/in/set-72157604041250665/

Hmm. I don't ever manipulate my photos except for correcting exposure and cropping, and I tend to think that most people who mess around with colors and filters and all that other newfangled stuff are just compensating for failing to capture interesting subjects in an interesting way. BUT, your photos, I like. They're interesting to begin with, at least, and art when you're done.

So there.

I like your photos BECAUSE they are crazy. They make me want to smoke a whole lot of pot.

...and you've lit the fire under my ass to go buy Aperture.

Yikes! I think I am in trouble now. I wonder if my comment was read as a negative remark about your photo. My intentions were not at all to be negative. Really. I think of your photos as expressionistic. I humbly apologize if that is how my crazy sense of humor came across. In person, my comments would have been attached with silly giggling. I really didn’t mean to express a dislike. Yikes!

IMHO, Art is about representing your vision as candidly as possible. You do that, and you do it extremely well. As a photo editor, I see a lot of subpar photographic Art. Your work is thoughtful, earnest, modern, and emotionally charged. Reality is for journalists, Art is for artists.
