So Exhausting Being Me
April 28th, 2008Chuck is having issues with all the activity of late. He’s handling it like a trooper.
Also, I gave him a vigorous hair removal massage, which is chronicled visually here.
At least the sun is shining! o

a. great shot!
b. it was more than 90 in newport yesterday. wtf?
c. i feel you on the dyson. i got mine two years ago after getting josh. it’s almost a pleasure to vacuum the house now. i fill a container in two sessions all from a 1100 sq foot house. it’s amazing what drops off two boxers dogs in such a short span of time.
pulling the two pounds of human hair wrapped around the brush bar, however, not so satisfying. living with dogs in many ways is way easier than living with women.

The Dyson is the world’s best pet hair picker upper.

He’s such a handsome, expressive boy!
I can empathize with the shedding. Chuck probably sheds so much because of his Lab heritage - my childhood dog was a mix of Lab and some kind of terrier and we used to get so much hair off of her, we could have assembled a second dog. My current dog, a tri-colour beagle, doesn’t have nearly as much hair, but he sheds steadily (in all three of his colours) all year round, with somewhat heavier shedding in the spring (bathing him frequently seems to help get a lot of the hair to drop out at one time, although it has led to some major drain clogs!). He sleeps under my duvet and I have taken to vaccuuming my bed every night before I get into it. The things crazy dog people do!

Chuck gets a well-deserved exfoliating spa treatment.

Do you groom Charlie? Revisited.
In the past few weeks, I have gotten emails from many of you touting the wonder that is the “Furminator”. I looked at this pet-grooming brush online, but even after your testimonials, I could not bring myself to spend $50 on a dog brush. Then, yet another person emailed me about this brush, and noted that it could be found for a discounted price online if one searched. I did, found a deal, and ordered it.
The Furminator came today and WOW. It truly is amazing. I brushed out SO MUCH FUR it was shocking, and it was so much fun! Charlie loves it, too; he can’t get enough. I then moved on to Eli, and filled A SHOEBOX with Eli’s fur. I will be extra warm this winter - I’m going to knit myself a bodysuit from Charlie’s wool and a pair of kitten mittens. —-
I’m sure if it works on Charlie, it would work for Chuck!
PS I think you stole our sun…we’re getting nothing but rain for the next few days in MA…bummer…I was just about to break out the flip flops!

Chuck is the best dog ever. So patient and calm even when Coco is attacking him.

The Furminator is awesome, although our dogs don’t really like it. Surprisingly, the cats don’t mind at all.

You need to get a furminator, it takes off the bottom coat, you will love it.

Furminator all the way! We have one for our dog, and it does wonders for keeping hair out of the house. He loves the damn thing, too.
You’ll just need a medium size one for Chuckles; I think they’re ~$30.

i really need to do this to my dog. she actually looks almost exactly like chuck. o_0 i wonder if that means it will be almost exactly as messy? maybe i should prepare a drink to help me cope with the hair.s

Does Chuck have a freckle on his tongue?
The crack network that is Amazon Prime is so true! I just came from there and was swayed to buy from them instead of the manufacturer. The book was ordered last month already!

I HEARTILY second (third?) the Furminator. It is worth every single penny and more. You will have the same feeling that you had when you used the Dyson for the first time (I have one of those too)…namely, “HOLY CRAP, was that really all in there??”

i wholeheartedly fourth the furminator. i have a chow mix, and when i use that baby on this it’s like a religious experience.
i can only hope to one day own the dyson. i think it would change my life in ways i can’t even begin to imagine.

“living with dogs in many ways is way easier than living with women.”
Wow. Truer words have never been spoken.

I also have to say that the Furminator is totally worth the price. I bought the small one to use on the cat. She loves it and I love that she’s stopped horking (sp?) furballs up everywhere.

I love your dog. My husband is addicted to checking the daily Chuck, well, daily. And, if the blogging thing doesn’t work out, you might be able to give Cesar Milan a run for his money.
