We’re expecting 18-36 inches tonight and I do believe I shall die. Snow days are not what they used to be.

I live in Missoula, MT - the day I graduated from high school (JUNE FREAKING 3RD), it snowed 4 inches of heavy wet snow. We were going to have the first outdoor graduation in 10 years…

Yeah, I’m with you…my husband & I have relocated to Jackson, WY from East Tennessee, and this winter is KILLING us. His new favorite saying is “Oh, look. It’s snowing. What a fuckin’ surprise.” My blog has been reduced to not much more than a daily whinefest about the weather. I’ve given up on Spring…I assume that I’m just going to wake up one day and it will be Summer…and the next day it will probably snow.

Actually this is how the winter weather was growing up in Utah, then like 10 years ago, it stopped snowing as much and we experienced spring for the first time in April and sometimes March. It’s come full circle and the REAL Utah winters are back. Just wait…it will snow in June, it did last year! Then you’ll have a blazing hot summer until September 1st when it starts snowing again!

My husband has warned me though, if he see’s snow when we come to Utah in June, he’ll turn the car around and drive back home to Arizona. So do what you can please to get rid of it, I’d like to see my Utahrded family and friends.

Are you trying to suggest I should stop complaining about the 50 degree weather and cold breeze after the 80’s of last week? Because I won’t .

I’m watching this thinking that for you, Jon, video is just an excuse for a soundtrack. It’s all about the music — crack me up.

When it snowed the other day, the first thing that came to mind was, Oh, those poor Armstrongs are gonna hate this. Then, because I was vaguely in your part of town, house hunting, I thought, “Hey, when summer comes, it’s gonna be five degrees cooler up here. Yes!” We were cruising the steep hillside neighborhoods and my New York buddy says,

“This isn’t like Salt Lake at all, it’s got a California hippie vibe.”

“Sausalito,” I offer, “without the Bay.”

“Yup! And definitely a Republican-free zone.”

“Sure, until you reach the lair of robber barons higher up the hill.”

Folks in Peoria, this is High Desert country at 4,200 ft on the valley floor and, say, 5,000 ft in areas around the valley perimeter. That means 30- to 40-degree diurnal swings (day/night), hot as hell summers, and deep freeze winters. Sometimes spring or fall, the best seasons, last two weeks. Luckily, longer this spring. We Mormons call this Zion to put a positive spin on Hell. Um, good preparation, personally speaking.
