Dark Bird
May 30th, 2008Not sure if this is a blackbird, a raven, a crow or an alien changeling from the counter-Earth that we don’t know about because its orbit is exactly opposite of ours. No matter. Birds are weird. But they can fly. Got me on the technicality AGAIN, birds. o

Hey Jon!
I hope you read this.
I check your website regularly and recently found a band in your ‘Listening’ list that I can assure you is going to be my favorite band for the Summer.
Plants and Animals TOTALLY ROCK.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Zinzy from the Netherlands

I’m seeing more green…this is becoming a pattern!

as someone who was born and raised in vancouver, i can tell you that it is a crow. they are annoying, loud, and very plentiful in the city.

That’s a fabulous picture. I love the way you captured his wings. And I think it’s an alien changeling.

I see a lot of green in that building on the right . . .

That is sooooooooo alfred hitchcocky!
(I know that really isn’t a word but we’re blogging, right?)

That is a crow, and I work near those buildings which is really weird. As far as aliens go, have you seen any of the Predator movies? The clicking noise the alien makes is the same sound crows make. I’m just saying…

YES! Birds ARE weird! I have a “Birds are Weird” poster: http://www.pennyarcademerch.com/pac070081.html

When I first glanced at this, I saw it as a black bowler hat instead of a bird. Very “unbearable lightness of being”!
Cool. Hey, one more plug for a post about printer decisions : ) Would love to know your take on things, Mr. Armstrong!

Birds freak me out, but I wish I could fly like them. Caraaaaazzzzyyy.
And I’m with Caroline… printer discussion, por favor!!

Whoa. You see my city in ways I’ve never even fathomed.
If you decide to sell any of your Vancouver pics, my bare front entrance wall is a waiting customer.

This reminds me of the other world contrast of seeing a neon sign backed by the Wasatch Mountains. There are times that cities seem the natural landmark and then nature added in un-naturally. However, animals and plants never seem to obey the rules we enforced on them like the ducks that contstantly show up on the lawn of my office complex.

That’s the rare Canadian Black Eagle, Jon. My girlfriend introduced me to them on my first visit to Vancouver last year. Breathtaking, aren’t they?

Im kind of in love with the fact that you used the word ‘changeling’.
The Armstrongs are stellar!!!!!!

You are of course referring to Gor. Where is Tarl Cabot when you need him?

Plus birds poop while they fly. We have to stop what we’re doing. They got us there too.

I was reading John Hodgman’s blog and came across a talk from TED regarding the intelligence of crows. Your picture ignited an idea in me and I apologize if my enthusiasm is encroaching. However, I thought you might like the talk as well.
